Services Cost Per Meal (includin: sales tax _ $3.55 _ $3.25 Shelf Stable Meals (sales tax and .acka.in• $3.55 $3.25 Option 1-Profit Sharing 5% 10% WHEREAS, an evaluation committee consisting of NHC Senior Resource Center Home and Community Care Block Grant (HCCBG) Advisory Committee, NHC staff, and Area Agency on Aging representatives met and evaluated the proposals; and WHEREAS, the committee unanimously selected Gibbs Efting Management Services as the company to recommend to the Board of Commissioners to award the contract to provide nutritious meals to the well and moderately impaired and frail elderly in their homes within the 1 County; and 1 WHEREAS, the County chose not to award the optional profit sharing as part of the contract. INOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners that the contract to provide Nutrition Services for the Senior Resource Center is z awarded to Gibbs Efting Management Services and the County Manager is hereby authorized i and directed to execute the contracts, contract form to be approved by the County Attorney. i ADOPTED this 19`" day of May, 2014. Section 1: Details of Budget Amendment Strategic Focus Area: Superior Public Health,Safety and Education Strategic Objective(s): Provide health/wellness education,programs,and services 3 yFund: General Fund Department:Parks&Gardens Expenditure: Decrease Increase Parks&Gardens Department $2,700 Total $0 $2,700 i Revenue: Decrease Increase Cape Fear Medical Alliance Donation $2,700 x Total $0 $2 700 1 Section 2: Explanation The Cape Fear Medical Alliance contributed a donation in the amount of$2,700 to help provide a Story Walk at Hugh McRae Park. A Story Walk is a series of signs featuring an individual spread or page of a book(often a children's picture book).The signs or pages are spread through an indoor or outdoor space in sequence allowing for a reader to follow the story by walking. Other funds for the project are coming from the Friends 1 of the Library and grants from the Health and Parks and Gardens Department. The total estimated cost of the project is$8,000. 1 Section 3: Documentation of Adoption This ordinance shall be effective upon its adoption. WHEREAS, mistreatment can take many forms: physical abuse, emotional abuse, ": '-• sexual abuse, neglect by a caregiver, self-neglect, exploitation, and financial exploitation; and �` WHEREAS, between 500,000 to five million people suffer elder abuse every year; and ' ,`' I ,F HEREAS, it is estimated that approximately one out of every fourteen cases of elder \ -•buse is reported; and �; r ' HEREAS, abuse of the elderly is preventable.
