Chairman’s Report: Allen Trask
Mr. Trask updated the board on where the County currently is in the process of hiring a
new Museum director.
Mr. Trask reminded board members that the County Commissioners are currently
accepting applications for appointments to the Museum Advisory Board. There will be
two to four board positions to fill and Mr. Trask encouraged board members to encourage
colleagues and other interested people to apply. Applications are available at
www.nhcgov.com and Ms. Haas would be happy to answer any questions people might
have. Applications should be submitted by the end of May. Appointments will be made
in June. Commissioner Dawson indicated that references from Advisory Board members
were welcome.
Third-quarter Achievement Indicators were reviewed. No recommendations or actions
were proposed.
Members were provided with a staff report on the current status of the Outdoor Learning
Environment.
Associates Report: Mike Ryan
Mr. Ryan indicated that Cape Fear Museum Associates, Inc. has lost one member –
Antonio Fernandez, a GE-Hitachi executive, has been moved to Connecticut. While they
have 12 members, the bylaws require them to have 12 to 24 members. They would like
to gain a few additional members, particularly those representing corporate interests.
