The concern I have with this project from a county stand point, is that the owner of this project and the property owner of Wrightsboro Plaza (Food Lion), I believe it is Zimmer Developement. That they get together and discuss the water supply issue of the fire pond / bladder system that aquires it's water shed from this property. The drawings that were presented to me are that the bladder system is actually on this proposed projects property. If the water shed is lost to this bladder system then there will be no fire protection at Food Lion's sprinkler system. A contingency plan needs to be in place or Food Lion needs to tie into the County Water Supply System. The latter is my reccommendation is preferred. However I do not want New Hanover County to be put in a position that this condition comes back at us. I talked with Jeff about a fire hydrany lay-out, for the approach from Castle Hayne Road to the entrance of this project, of which we have not seen yet. This is the area between McDonalds and the rear of Food lion. He was in agreement of placing two hydrants in this area to benefit the business community there and meeting the intent of the North Carolina Fire Prevention Code Chapter 5 - Section 508 . The remanider of the plan looks good. Buildings will be rquired to be sprinklered. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at any time.
