The Cape Fear Museum Advisory Board held its regular monthly meeting on
Wednesday, February 18, 2015 in the Williston Auditorium at the Cape Fear
Museum. The meeting was called to order by Vice Chairman Stuart Borrett at 4:00
pm.
Approval of Minutes: Stuart Borrett
A motion to accept the January 2015 minutes was made, seconded and
approved without opposition.
Consideration of Absences: Stuart Borrett
Gwen Brown, Mike Ryan and Allen Trask indicated their inability to attend
this meeting and have been excused.
Advisory Chairman’s Report: Stuart Borrett
Mr. Borrett reported that the museum’s annual fundraiser, Salute to Our Stars
& Stripes, will be held on Saturday, March 14th at Union Station beginning at
6:30 pm. Mr. Borrett encouraged the board members to purchase tables or
tickets and to invite colleagues and friends to the gala. Extra invitations are
available upon request.
Collections Committee Report: Nancy Pritchett
The Collections Committee recommends approval of the proposed list of
acquisitions sent out in the board packet. A motion was made, seconded and
approved without opposition to approve the recommendation to the
commissioners.
CFM Associates Report: Sheryl Mays
Ms. May reported on behalf of the Associates Board. After reviewing the list
of candidates for the development director position, four telephone interviews
were conducted. Three of those candidates have been asked to come to the
museum for in-person interviews next Thursday, February 26th. An April 1st
start date is anticipated at this time.

Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, February 18, 2015
Museum Update: Sheryl Mays
Ms. Mays reported that New Hanover County Sherriff Deputy Randy
Johnson has been assigned to cover the museum. Deputy Johnson will be at
the library full-time but will also be available and making visits to the
museum.
Ms. Mays reported that the tentative date for the Outdoor Learning
Environment ground breaking is Thursday, April 2nd at 10:30 am.
The bid package for the Outdoor Learning Environment has gone out. On
February 25th potential contractors can visit the site and ask questions. The
public bid opening will be on Thursday, March 5th at 2 pm in Williston
Auditorium.
Old Business/New Business: Stuart Borrett
PI Days, March 12-13, 9 am - Noon

from 6:30 pm – 11 pm at Union Station
The boats in the boat pavilion are being moved and then stored on county
property.
A motion was made to adjourn the meeting. With unanimous consent, the meeting
ended at 4:20 pm. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at
4:00 pm in the Williston Auditorium at the Cape Fear Museum.
