2015 meeting and asked of any corrections or additions, of which there were none. Motion by George Chadwick to approved minutes, seconded by Deborah Watts. Minutes were approved.
Risk
Manager and Advisory Committee discussed the renewal premium quotes for the New Hanover County ABC Board. Prior to a Request for Proposals being issued for the ABC Board insurance renewals,
all of the buildings owned by ABC were appraised.
Points of discussion: A. Four bids were received for the November insurance renewals. The four bidders were: HPB Insurance Group,
Harold W. Wells, Jackie Dees and Surry. The ABC Board decided to select Surry Insurance for their renewals, as they were the lowest bidder with an overall increase in coverages. C. ABC
Board made the decision to increase their workers compensation insurance from 100/500/500 to 500/500/500 and
add Cyber Liability with the premium cost savings. D. It appears that the BOE may have duplicate coverage with Cyber Liability and Data Compromise. Risk Manager will be reviewing
these policies to determine if the Data Compromise policy should be cancelled. E. The renovation of the 17th Street former Administration building is ongoing and is expected to be
completed at the first of 2016. The renovations will enlarge the building’s retail space, renovate the liquor-by-the-drink area and turn the old office area into warehouse space.
Risk
Manager and Advisory Committee discussed the renewal premium quotes for the Cape Fear Community College. Points of discussion: A. Auto liability premium decreased due to the decrease
in their fleet. B. Law Enforcement Liability was added, the college has six law enforcement employees that will carry weapons and act in the capacity of law enforcement. C. Property
and General Liability premiums are showing an increase due to the additional of the Fine Arts Building. D. Ocean Marine excess premium has increased due to the addition of pollution
to the policy. E. Workers Compensation has decreased due to the Experience mod factor. Claims have been below average for the College this past year.
Risk Manager advised and discussed
with the Board that New Hanover County is talking about moving forward with an Active Shooter Policy. Jennifer has been working with the Sheriff’s Department completing a threat assessment
and then identifying safe areas. This discussion will continue with Jennifer working with a NHC committee and also with the City of Wilmington for a possible collaboration on this project.
Risk
Manager, Jennifer Stancil discussed with the Board about our software issues.
Risk Manager, Jennifer Stancil advised the Board that we have been unsuccessful in reaching our newest member
of the Advisory Board, Mr. John Nunn and that we may need to replace him if they knew anyone that may be interested to let her know.
Risk Manager, Jennifer Stancil asked if there were
any other items or business to be brought before the Committee. There were none and the meeting was adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
