The Cape Fear Museum Advisory Board held its regular monthly meeting on

Approval of Minutes: Stuart Borrett
A correction was made to the minutes. A motion to accept the February 17,
2016 minutes was made, seconded and approved without opposition.
Consideration of Absences: Stuart Borrett
Gwen Brown, Melissa Collins, Mike Hudson, Dan Owen, Allen Trask
indicated their inability to attend this meeting and have been excused.
Advisory Chairman’s Report: Stuart Borrett
Dr. Borrett informed everyone that the April board meeting’s date will be

April 13 from 4 - 7pm. The consultants will be present to discuss the
strategic plan and community survey results. Dinner will be served.
CFM Associates Report: Mike Hudson
Dr. Borrett reminded everyone about the upcoming exhibit, Starring Cape
Fear! which will run April 22, 2016 - February 26, 2017.
Opening night on April 21st will be a ticketed fundraising event hosted by the
CFM Associates.
Collections Committee Report: Nancy Pritchett
In Committee Chair Pritchett’s absence, curator Barbara Rowe reviewed the
acquisitions and de-accessions for submission to NHC Board of
Commissioners.A motion to accept the acquisitions and de-accessions was
made, seconded and approved without opposition.
Community Engagement Committee Report: Tucker Stevens
Mr. Stevens noted that Community Engagement Committee did not meet, but
they are working on the guiding principles for partnerships. The Committee
is also in process of developing a questionnaire.
Strategic Planning Committee Report: Bill Terrell
Mr. Terrell emphasized the importance of the April board meeting to discuss
the strategic plan.
Highlights of the Behind the Scenes Tour: Jan Davidson
Historian Dr. Jan Davidson presented highlights of the March behind the
scenes tour, The Mystery of Women’s History.
Curator Barbara Rowe provided information on the artifacts used in the tour.
Board Vacancy: Stuart Borrett
Dr. Borrett discussed the upcoming vacancies on the board due to the
retirement of several board members. He encouraged board members to
promote the board openings in the community.
Museum Report: Sheryl Mays
Ms. Mays discussed the importance of the Advisory Board to the museum
and thanked the current board members for their service.
Old Business/New Business:
No report
A motion was made to adjourn the meeting. With unanimous consent, the meeting
ended at 5:15 pm.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 4:00 pm in the
Williston Auditorium at Cape Fear Museum.
