NEW HANOVER COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
TO THE BOARD OF ELECTIONS, DIRECTOR, AND STAFF
WHEREAS, the 2016 General Election required diligence and hard work by the Board, Director
and staff; and
WHEREAS, New Hanover County experienced the largest voter turnout to date for a
presidential election at 66.3%; and
WHEREAS, 62.8% of the total turnout utilized One-Stop voting, the record number of voters
for this voting method; and
WHEREAS, the number of provisional ballots set a new record at 2,243; and
WHEREAS, two recounts were required for County Commissioners and State Auditor; and
WHEREAS, two protests were heard and dismissed by the Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the New Hanover County Board of
Commissioners wishes to recognize the dedication and professionalism that the Board of
Elections, Director and staff provided to New Hanover County and thank them for their valuable
service.
ADOPTED this the 9th day of January, 2017.
