RE: Proposed Rezoning of Property located at Existing Myrtle Grove
Library Site - 5155 S College Road
New Hanover County is currently constructing a new building located near the intersection of 17th Street and S College Road for the purpose of
relocating the Myrtle Grove Library. As such, the county will be preparing to place the existing site for sale. Prior to placing the property up for sale, the county will be initiating
and processing a request to rezone the site to a B-2, Highway Business District using the conditional zoning procedures specified in the New Hanover County Zoning Ordinance.
A Conditional
Zoning District allows particular uses to be established that may be accompanied with specific standards and conditions pertaining to development of the site. Essentially, this means
that only those uses and general layout of an approved proposal can be developed. A list of proposed uses and a conceptual plan proposed for the site is enclosed.
The county requires
that a meeting for all property owners within 500 feet of the tract boundary, and any and all other interested parties, is held prior to the submission of a conditional zoning district
application. This provides neighbors with an opportunity for explanation of the proposal and for questions to be answered concerning project improvements, benefits and impacts.
County
staff will be hosting a meeting on Tuesday, February 5th at 6:00 PM at the Myrtle Grove Library, 5155 S College Road, to discuss this proposal. If you cannot attend, you are also welcome
