The CFMA, Inc. CFMA, Inc. meeting was called to order by Chairman Rob Cameron at 4:00 pm. Sheryl Mays Museum Director Approval of Minutes: Rob Cameron  A motion to accept theNovember 15, 2018 minutes was made, seconded and approved without opposition. Consideration of Absences: Rob Cameron  Ray indicated her inability to attend this meeting and has been excused. Chairman’s Report: Rob Cameron  Chairman Cameron invited board members to the FY18 Museum Annual nd Update presented to the Commissioners at their January 22 meeting.  He reminded all to attend the Project Grace meeting with Zimmer th Development on February 6at the Downtown Library.  There will be 2 Project Grace community meetings in February.Sheryl will send out calendar invites as reminders. Associate Board Report: Ashley Garner  CFMA President Garner updated the board on the Hamilton Raffle. All 150 tickets were sold and the Winner was Kim Moenich. Kim is a local nurse who visited the museum as child and then as a teacher, before switching to nursing.  Garner promoted the fundraising event STEM-LIM. The event will be March st 21 5:30-8pm. The Associates are halfway to the $20,000 sponsorship goal with 17 o confirmed sponsors. Collections Committee Report:David Ball  Ball reviewed the accessions to be submitted to NHC Board of Commissioners for approval.  A motion to accept the accessions was made, seconded and approved without opposition. Board Feedback: Rob Cameron  Dixon attended the Superhero Science night. He enjoyed it and said there were a lot of stations with activities.  Dixon also commented on the Smithsonian membership drive not being as effective. With the museum free, it is difficult to sell memberships currently. He also reviewed the benefits of the Smithsonian membership.  Mays also explained the Smithsonian benefits for the museum. CFM has access to videos, conferences, and recently applied for a grant.  Pope attended the film and planetarium. The planetarium was well attended and both programs were enjoyable.  Motsinger attended the planetarium weekend show and said it was not well attended. She spoke with most parents who were repeat planetarium attendees. Museum Report: Director Sheryl Mays  Mays went over the new program list and a calendar invite will be sent for all upcoming public meetings.  Mays updated everyone on the new humidification system being installed.  FEMA has scheduled a visit and repairs are estimated to be completed by the end of May.  A dinosaur exhibit will be installed at end of June and run until February 2020.  The museum will have small increases for a space study and part time staff in the next County budget. Old Business/New Business: A motion was made to adjourn the meeting. With unanimous consent, the meeting ended at 5 pm. th The next board meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 20 at 4:00 pm in Williston Auditorium at Cape Fear Museum.
