I. Call to Order
Ms. York called the meeting to order at 2:06 p.m. A quorum was established.
II. Approve Agenda
MOTION: Ms. York MOVED, SECONDED by Ms. Warren, to approve the agenda with an
amendment to add Education on the webpage as a category for community complaints. Upon
vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNAMIMOUSLY.
III. Old Business
Communications Strategy
The county webpage is active and there has been a call and a visitor to a sub-committee meeting based
on visits to the webpage. A request has been made to the city via Suzanne Rogers to update their page
or place a link on their page to the county C-RAC page.
The sub-committee requested that the county create a C-RAC Facebook group from the County’s
Facebook page.
The sub-committee discussed reiterating to the C-RAC to share information with groups and
organizations that they are involved in or hold membership. Events and activities will be shared with
Linda Upperman Smith and others with large email groups. Dr. York will remind members to share C-
RAC during her committee report. It was decided that “Other” would be changed to “Education and
Other”.
PURPOSE: The committee was established by the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners and Wilmington City Council for
the purpose of addressing community issues involving prejudice or discrimination on the basis of race, national origin, creed or
religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, disability or medical condition; informing the Appointing Authorities and other
organizations of their findings; and making recommendations, in an advisory capacity, to the Appointing Authorities and other
organizations, as necessary.

Public Education
The second Meet and Greet will be held in September at DC Virgo Preparatory Academy. There will be
no agenda, it will be just a meeting and greet, networking event with C-RAC members and the
community. Dr. York will follow up with a specific date and time, the goal is to have the event on a day
that the school is having a school or parent event.
It is suggested that the Meet and Greet at DC Virgo Preparatory Academy consist of:
Introductions & Networking - 1 hour
Brochures, flyers, applications, etc.
Refreshments
The Weekly Outreach Site has yielded one compliant. The first complaint is an employment complaint.
The sub-committee has decided to keep the same day and time for the Outreach Site through the
summer and revisit it at a later date.
The sub-committee discussed WAVE Transit follow up. It was decided to contact WAVE Transit to find
out if they had made a decision on a route in Creekwood. Dr. York and Ms. Bradley-Thomas will ride the
WAVE on July 22, 2019.
IV. New Business
Ms. Warren suggested that at the next meeting every C-RAC member be provided 100 brochures to
hand out in the community. It was also discussed that periodically C-RAC members will be asked if they
need more brochures.
VII. Action Items & Next Steps
Several action items were discussed:
Contact NHC Communications regarding the Facebook group (Ms. Thomas)
Contact community members on the resource list about C-RAC (Dr. York)
Follow up with Ms. Mullens regarding intentions of WAVE (Dr. York)
Contact DC Virgo PTA President regarding Meet & Greet (Dr. York)
Ride the WAVE (Dr. York and Ms. Thomas)
