Board Members Brewington, Jan PRESENT Chadurjian, Denise PRESENT Conlon, Dennis PRESENT Damutz, Amy PRESENT Dodd, Scott EXCUSED Montwieler, Katherine EXCUSED Shore, Sam PRESENT Smith, Harriet PRESENT Smith, Ida EXCUSED Smith, Paul PRESENT Walker, Bradford PRESENT Zimmer, Ronna PRESENT Staff Members & Board Reps. Tom Brimberry (FOL Rep), Harry Tuchmayer (Director), Paige Owens (Asst. Director) Sam Shore convened the meeting at 2:05 p.m. Public Comment None Agenda Review Agenda was approved by consent. Approval of previous minutes The minutes from the last board meeting on May 16, 2019 were sent to the board prior to the meeting for review. Motion: Dennis Conlon MOVED, SECONDED by Amy Damutz, to accept the minutes of the May 16, 2019 meeting as written. Upon vote, the MOTION WAS CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. Correspondence None. Friends of the Library Report Tom Brimberry presented the following report:  Branch Manager liaisons  Plans for more Story Walks  Reminder of Beach Reads book sale  Historical Library walking tour on 9/23/19 Foundation Board Report Ronna Zimmer presented the following report:  Beverly Tetterton will be the speaker at the fundraising luncheon. October date TBD. Minutes 06 20 2019 LAB Page 2 Director’s Report Harry Tuchmayer submitted his report to board prior to the meeting. In addition, he added the following:  Summer Reading has started.  Wrapping up fiscal year budget funds. New Business Patron Surveys Jimi Rider, Main Branch Manager, shared the library’s Patron Survey results to the group.  Over 1,000 surveys were taken system-wide.  The last question of the survey asks patrons what resources they used. This often makes patrons aware of new resources we offer. (IE: Online Language, Freegal, Tutor.com, Gale Course) Transition Harry Tuchmayer formally introduced Paige Owens as the Library’s new Director. The board thanked Harry for his years of service and congratulated Paige on her new role. Pine Valley Update Harry Tuchmayer reported the following:  Program attendance has double this year vs. last year.  Check outs have increased and many patrons have changed Pine Valley to their book pick up site.  20% increase in children’s electronic book checkouts (Class Project)  Lots of foot traffic. Open space is noisy, but adult section is quiet.  Pros: Children’s area, open floor plan, teen programs  Cons: Storytime overflowing due to higher attendance, public access computer area is loud, books on bottom shelves difficult for some patrons.
