NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners that February 2020 will be recognized as "Children's Dental Health Month" in New Hanover County. C well, Clerk to the Board tl Exhibit v Book � Pan a NEW HANOVER COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS HEART HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH WHEREAS, the annual celebration of Heart Health Awareness Month began in 1963 to encourage all Americans to join the battle against heart and cardiovascular disease; and WHEREAS, protecting heart health encompasses all cardiovascular health including risk for strokes and other cardiovascular conditions; and WHEREAS, one in three adult women has some form of cardiovascular disease and heart disease is responsible for one in five adult deaths; and WHEREAS, nearly one in six adults with high blood pressure do not know that they have this risk factor for heart and cardiovascular disease; and WHEREAS, 80% of strokes can be prevented by adopting healthy habits; and WHEREAS, February is also the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign because heart disease impacts women's lives as much as it impacts men's lives; and WHEREAS, National Wear Red Day for 2020 will be celebrated on February 7, 2020; and WHEREAS, New Hanover County Health and Human Services is committed to reducing the risks and detrimental effects of heart and cardiovascular disease for all our residents. Real Property Taxes Unpaid for 2019 -2020 New Hanover $6,067,076.67 Fire District $364,983.24 Debt Service $849,182.41 Wilmington $3,005,103.44 Wilmington MSD $17,110.89 Wrightsville Beach $127,975.17 Carolina Beach $259,879.42 Kure Beach $111,033.63 *YTD TOTAL $10,802,344.87 *YTD totals are frcm —AC—:.— - -j- 4 14 7 /n/1'1/1 &AI I I 1 Q-4-� K erleigh G. well, Clerk to the Board Exhibit Book Xtff Page 3�5 AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNTY OF NEW HANOVER AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE, SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE, MOBILE HOME AND TRAVEL TRAILER PARK ORDINANCE, AIRPORT HEIGHT RESTRICTION ORDINANCE, AND FLOOD DAMAGE PREVENTION ORDINANCE OF NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA TO CONSOLIDATE THOSE CODES INTO ONE UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE CASE TA19 -04 WHEREAS, pursuant to N.C.G.S. § 153A -340, the County of New Hanover ( "County') may adopt zoning and development regulation ordinances and combine any ordinances authorized into a unified ordinance for the purpose of promoting health, safety, morals or the general welfare; WHEREAS, the County desires to reorganize its Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Ordinance, Mobile Home and Travel Trailer Park Ordinance, Airport Height Restriction Ordinance, and Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance into a unified development ordinance; WHEREAS, the reorganized unified document will update provisions to reflect current practice and laws and clarify current practices; WHEREAS, this reorganization is not intended to change the regulations that apply to properties; WHEREAS, the County finds that these amendments are consistent with the purpose and intent of the 2016 Comprehensive Plan because it will provide the framework for the code updates the plan recommends; and WHEREAS, the County find that the reorganized code is reasonable and in the public interest because it clarifies the current practices in the county's development regulations for stakeholders and code users; THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF NEW HANOVER COUNTY DOTH ORDAIN: Section 1. The Board of Commissioners of the County of New Hanover, North Carolina, repeal existing ordinances as follows: • New Hanover County Zoning Ordinance originally adopted on October 6, 1969 as subsequently amended; • New Hanover County Subdivision Ordinance originally adopted on February 17, 1969 as subsequently amended; • New Hanover County Mobile Home and Travel Trailer Ordinance originally adopted March 2, 1970 as subsequently amended; • New Hanover County Airport Height Restriction Ordinance originally adopted May 9, 1973 as subsequently amended; and Page 1 of 2 • New Hanover County Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance originally adopted April 3, 1978 as subsequently amended. Section 2. The County of New Hanover, North Carolina consolidate the amended Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Ordinance, Mobile Home and Travel Trailer Park Ordinance, Airport Height Restriction Ordinance, and the existing Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance into one document and adopt the New Hanover County Unified Development Ordinance as attached. Section 3. All references to the ordinances listed in Section 1 shall now to refer to the New Hanover County Unified Development Ordinance. Section 4. Any ordinance or any part of any ordinance in conflict with this ordinance, to the extent of such conflict, is hereby repealed. Section 5. This ordinance is adopted in the interest of the public health, safety, morals and general welfare of the inhabitants of the County of New Hanover, North Carolina and subject to the conditions also approved as part this action, shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption. Section 6. The County Commissioners find, in accordance with the provisions of N.C.G.S § 153A- 341, that adoption of the amendments and consolidation of codes into a unified development ordinance is consistent with the purpose and intent of the 2016 Comprehensive Plan because it will provide the framework for the code updates the plan recommends and that the reorganized code is reasonable and in the public interest because it clarifies the current practices in the county's development regulations for stakeholders and code users.
