2003-10-06 Water & Sewer NEW HANOVER COUNTY WATER AND SEWER DISTRICT BOOK 3 REGULAR MEETING, OCTOBER 6, 2003PAGE 38 ASSEMBLY The District Board of Commissioners of the New Hanover County Water and Sewer District met in Regular Session on Monday, October 6, 2003, at 5:51 p.m. in the Assembly Room of the New Hanover County Courthouse, 24 North Third Street, Wilmington, North Carolina. Members present were: Chairman Robert G. Greer; Vice-Chairman Nancy H. Pritchett; District Commissioner Julia Boseman; District Commissioner Ted Davis, Jr.; District Commissioner William A. Caster; County Manager, Allen O’Neal; County Attorney, Wanda M. Copley; and Clerk to the District Board, Lucie F. Harrell. Chairman Greer called the meeting to order. NON-AGENDA ITEMS Chairman Greer announced that time had been reserved for anyone from the public to present an item that was not listed on the Regular Agenda. He requested all persons to limit their remarks to three minutes. No items or comments were received. CONSIDERATION OF INTERIM WATER RATE FOR THE BROOKFIELD/BRIARWOOD AREA Chairman Greer reported that the Water and Sewer District was in the process of assuming ownership, operation and maintenance of the existing Brookfield/Brierwood water system relinquished by the former owner. Since there are no water meters in place and the District does not have a flat water rate in the County Code of Ordinances, a temporary rate will have to be established. Chairman Greer advised that the existing rate under the old system is $14.92 per month and stated that Staff has recommended maintaining the same rate until the water and sewer system has been completed with all meters installed. Chairman Greer asked if any member of the District Board would like to comment. Hearing no comments, Chairman Greer called for motion. Motion: District Commissioner Caster MOVED, SECONDED by District Commissioner Boseman, to establish a temporary rate of $14.92 per month ($29.84 bi-monthly) for the residents of Brookfield/ Briarwood area until the water and sewer system is completed and meters have been installed. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. ADJOURNMENT Chairman Greer called for a motion to adjourn the meeting. Motion: District Commissioner Boseman MOVED, SECONDED by District Commissioner Caster, to adjourn. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
