The following item was presented by staff: AUTHORIZATION FOR THE DEVELOPER OF HARDEE'S TO CONSTRUCT 1,500 FEET OF SEWER LINE IN THE MONKEY JUNCTION AREA Assistant County Manager, Dave Weaver, reported the Engineering Department has been given authorization to proceed with the design and construction of a 24 inch and 18 inch sewer interceptor in the Monkey Junction area. Due to commercial development and the addition of an access road by the N. C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT), there is an alignment conflict. The Hardee's restaurant and NCDOT access road will be under construction almost immediately. Both will be in the alignment of the 24 inch sewer line. In order to prevent the additional cost of the sewer construction through the Hardee's parking lot and the access road, the sewer line would have to be constructed immediately. The developer for Hardee's is willing to construct 1,500 feet of the sewer line through the area to prevent disruption of the newly constructed parking lot if the District reimburses the developer. The cost for the proposed construction is approximately $114,500 and will complete the sewer line through this area of immediate construction. Based on other projects the cost is competitive. NEW HANOVER COUNTY WATER AND DISTRICT BOARDBOOK 2 REGULAR MEETING, MAY 17, 1993PAGE 110 Motion: Vice-Chairman Barone MOVED, SECONDED by District Commissioner Sisson to authorize the developer for Hardee's to construct 1,500 feet of sewer line at a cost of not more than $114,500, and to approve reimbursement to the developer from District funds appropriated for this project. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. ADJOURNMENT Motion: Vice-Chairman Barone MOVED, SECONDED by District Commissioner Caster to adjourn. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. Chairman Mathews adjourned the meeting at 2:18 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Lucie F. Harrell Clerk to the District Board
