1993-09-20 Water & Sewer NEW HANOVER COUNTY WATER AND DISTRICT BOARDBOOK 2 REGULAR MEETING, SEPTEMBER 20, 1993PAGE 125 ASSEMBLY The District Board of Commissioners of the New Hanover County Water & Sewer District met in Regular Session on Monday, September 20, 1993, at 11:51 A.M. in the First Floor Assembly Room of the New Hanover County Administration Building, 320 Chestnut Street, Wilmington, North Carolina. Members present were: District Commissioners William A. Caster; Robert G. Greer; William E. Sisson, Jr.; Vice-Chairman Sandra Barone; Chairman E. L. Mathews, Jr.; Assistant County Manager, Dave Weaver; County Attorney, Wanda L. Copley; and Clerk to the District Board, Lucie F. Harrell. Chairman Mathews called the meeting to order. NON-AGENDA ITEMS Chairman Mathews inquired as to whether anyone from the general public would like to present an item not listed on the Regular Agenda. No items were received from the general public. Commissioner Barone reported residents from the Porters Neck area are concerned about the District allocating sewer to a 300 family subdivision when they have been by-passed. She inquired as to future plans for providing sewer to this area and requested a meeting with the Assistant County Manager for further discussion of this matter at a later date. Assistant County Manager Weaver informed the District Board that no concrete plan has been developed to provide sewer from Bayshore Estates to Porters Neck; however, the Sewer Advisory Task Force has finally received background data on the study performed by the previous consulting engineer, which will enable the Committee to move forward with future plans. Chairman Mathews reported, as a matter of information, the provision of good drinking water is more critical to this area than sewer due to salt water intrusion into water wells. ADJOURNMENT Motion: District Commissioner Sisson MOVED, SECONDED by Vice- Chairman Barone to adjourn. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. Chairman Mathews adjourned the meeting at 11:54 A.M. Respectfully submitted, Lucie F. Harrell Clerk to the District Board
