1992-05-18 Water & Sewer55 MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING, MAY 18, 1992 ASSEMBLY The District Board of Commissioners of the New Hanover County Water & Sewer District met in Regular Session on Monday, May 18, 1992, at 10:16 A.M. in the Assembly Room of the New Hanover County Courthouse, 24 North Third Street, Wilmington, North Carolina. Members present were: District Commissioners E. L. Mathews, Jr.; Fred Retchin; William H. Sutton; 'Vice-Chairman, Robert G. Greer; Chairman Jonathan Barfield, Sr.; County Manager, Allen O'Neal; County Attorney, Wanda M. Copley, and Clerk to the District Board, Lucie F. Harrell. ~ J. Chairman Barfield called the meeting to order. NON-AGENDA ITEMS Chairman Barfield asked if anyone from the general public would like to present an item not listed on the Regular Agenda. No items were presented. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion: District Commissioner Retchin MOVED, SECONDED by District Commissioner Mathews to approve the minutes of the Regular Meetings of April 21, 1992, and May 4, 1992. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. AWARD OF CONTRACT #92-0249 TO PARKER LANDSCAPING FOR MOWING SEWER LINE EASEMENTS County Engineer, Wyatt Blanchard, stated the New Hanover County Water & Sewer District presently has 44,500 linear feet of sewer easements which require mowing to allow access for proper operation and maintenance of the sewer system. The following proposals have been received, and Staff recommends award of the contract to the low bidder, Parker Landscaping: Parker Landscaping $0.165 per linear ft. $ 7,342.50 Tripp's Mowing & R. W. Clearing $0.28 per linear ft. $12,460.00 J. M. Price Maintenance & Service Co. $0.30 per linear ft. $16,910.00 J. M. Furr Landscaping Contractor, Inc. $0.95 per linear ft. $42,275.00 Motion: After discussion, District Commissioner Retchin MOVED, SECONDED by District Commissioner Mathews to award the contract to Parker Landscaping in the amount of $7,342.50 as recommended by staff. The Chairman was authorized to execute the contract documents. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. APPROVAL OF EXEMPTION FROM SEWER CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS County Engineer, Wyatt Blanchard, submitted a request from 56 MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING, MAY 18, 1992 Barbara Bragg; James pierce & wife, Juanita; and Johnie Garrison, Land surveyor, for an exemption from sewer construction requirements for a proposed subdivision, Huntersville, located off of'Market Street. After review, staff recommends approval of the exemption with the condition that Lot 10-B will connect to the sewer system along Market Street when available and that this condition be included in the deed for Lot 10-B. Motion: District commissioner Retchin MOVED, SECONDED by Vice~ Chairman Greer to grant the exemption from sewer construction requirements as requested contingent upon the condition that Lot 10-B will connect to the sewer system on Market street upon availability at the owner's expense and that this condition will be included in the deed. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. ADJOURNMENT Motion: District commissioner Sutton MOVED, SECONDED by Vice- Chairman Greer to adjourn. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
