ASSEMBLY
The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners held a Special Meeting on Monday,
January 26, 1998, at 6:00 P.M. in the Williston Auditorium of the Cape Fear Museum, 814 Market
Street, Wilmington, North Carolina.
Members present were: Commissioners Buzz Birzenieks; Ted Davis, Jr.; Charles R. Howell;
Vice-Chairman Robert G. Greer; Chairman William A. Caster; County Manager, Allen O’Neal;
County Attorney, Wanda M. Copley; and Deputy Clerk to the Board, Teresa P. Elmore.
Chairman Caster called the meeting to order and reported the Welfare Reform Ad Hoc
Committee had approved the Work First Family Assistance Welfare Plan and was recommending
approval of the plan by the Board of County Commissioners.
Motion:
Vice-Chairman Greer MOVED, SECONDED by Commissioner Birzenieks, to adopt the
Work First Family Assistance Welfare Plan as presented by the Welfare Reform Ad Hoc Committee,
and submit the proposed plan to the N. C. Department of Health and Human Services by February
1, 1998. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
ADJOURNMENT
Chairman Caster adjourned the meeting.
