NEW HANOVER COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, New Hanover County currently pays the City of Wilmington one hundred fifty thousand dollars
($150,000) per fiscal year for capital improvements to Legion Stadium; and
WHEREAS, the Legion Stadium Commission approved a five million five hundred thousand dollar
($5,500,000) master plan to renovate Legion Stadium and associated facilities; and
WHEREAS, New Hanover County agrees to pay for one half of the debt service in an amount not to exceed
two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) per fiscal year for twenty (20) years; and
WHEREAS, this payment will take the place of the current annual payment of one hundred fifty thousand
dollars ($150,000); and
WHEREAS, the effective date of this change in payment is the fiscal year beginning July 200 1 and ending June
30, 2002;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners that
effective July 1,2001, the current annual payment of one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) made by
New Hanover County to the City of Wilmington for capital improvements on Legion Stadium shall be
increased to pay one half of the debt service for the Master Plan to renovate Legion Stadium and associated
facilities with an annual paymentto be made for twenty (20) years in an amount notto exceed two hundred fifty
thousand ($250,000) subject to the following conditions: I) Continued equal representation on the Legion
Stadium Commission with regard to policies, usage and all matters related to the continual operations; 2)
Prominent and equal signage to that of the City on all signs, logos, letterheads and other methods of pro motion;
and 3) Guarantee of no disparity in terms of access, use and charges to New Hanover County residents from
initiation of the agreement and in perpetuity

OF
NEW HANOVER COUNTY
WHEREAS, New Hanover County currently pays the City of Wilmington one hundred fifty

master plan to renovate Legion Stadium and associated facilities; annual payment to be made for
twenty (20 years) and each payment is not to exceed two hundred fifty thousand ($250,000 00).

NEW HANOVER COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, higher education has historically played a tremendous role in building the State ofNorth Carolina
into the thriving economic, cultural and social leader that it is today; and
WHEREAS, North Carolina's system of higher education is acclaimed as being among the best in the country
by its community colleges and universities providing its citizens the skills necessary to compete in today's and
tomorrow's competitive economy; and
WHEREAS, our higher education campuses must upgrade and construct academic, residential and
administrative facilities, including critical laboratory and classroom space to accommodate the growing
numbers of students, particularly as our community colleges expect more than 57,000 new students to enroll
and our universities' enrollment will grow by more than 48,000 students; and
WHEREAS, the $3 1 billion Michael K. Hooker Higher Education Facilities Financing Bond Referendum
package approved by the General Assembly will assist our community colleges and universities in meeting their
significant facility needs; and
WHEREAS, this bond package, subject to voter approval on the November 2000 ballot deserves rightful
consideration by the citizens of this State;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOL VED that the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners pledges
to work to educate and inform the citizens of our State about the importance of the Michael K. Hooker Higher
Education Facilities Financing Bond Referendum in improving our community colleges and universities, and
pledges to encourage voters to approve the bonds this November.

WHEREAS, the aI/ached petition has been filed with the Board of Count v Commissioners of the County of
New Hanover requesting that the ahove described road(s), the location afwhich has been indicated in red on the
attached map, be added 10 the Secondary Road Svsfem, and
WHEREAS, the Board ofCoun(v Commissioners is of the opinion that the above described road(s) should
be added to the Secondary Road System, if the r()ad(~) meets minimum standards and criteria established by the
Division of Highways of the Department of Transportation for the addition ofroads to the System.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners of the County of New Hanover that the
Division of Highways is hereby requested to review the above described road(~:J, and to take over the road(s) for
maintenance if they meet established standards and criteria.

RESOLUTION
OFTHE
NEW HANOVER COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Environment, Health and Natural Resources has in place a
reimbursement program for the disposal of white goods; and
WHEREAS, New Hanover County has a balance in the white goods fund of $248,851 and cannot receive
additional monies until the balance falls below $15,000;
WHEREAS, these designated monies must be spent on projects related to the disposal of white goods; and
WHEREAS, a white goods processing pad is a much needed component of the program and the cost to
construct the pad will be $96,509;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the County Commissioners of New Hanover County
hereby approve the construction of the white goods processing pad and award of contract 01-0078 in the
amount of $96,509 to Taylor Construction, Inc.
Adopted this, the 21 st day of August, 2000.
