POSTPONED
REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING, BOARD OF HEALTH
HELD IN OFFICE OF BOARD
AUGUST 19, 1937
Present: Chairman Addison Hewlett, Mayor Thomas E. Cooper,
Mr. H. M. Roland, Dr. J. C. Wessell, Dr. W. Houston Moore, and
Dr. H. L. Keith.
Minutes of last meeting were read and approved.
The Health Officer presented the monthly reports.
After a general discussion of the milk ordinance proposed at the
July meeting, it was moved by Dr. Moore, seconded by Dr. Keith, that
the ordinance be adopted to become effective on and after July 1, 1938 and that the
state authorities be notified by letter that such action is taken in the interest of harmony
and co-operation between the state and local health departments but with the
understanding that if there is unreasonable interference or too exacting
interpretations, the ordinance will be repealed. Carried.
The Health Officer announced the resignation of Dr. G. R. Carpenter,
Assistant Health Officer, which was accepted with regrets. The Health
Officer was then authorized to appoint Dr. Carpenter's successor.
The Health Officer explained to the Board that Mr. W. H. Hancammon,
one of the sanitary inspectors, has become physically unable to do his
field work.
Upon recommendation of the Health Officer, it was moved by Dr. Moore,
seconded by Mr. Cooper, that the Health Officer be authorized to employ
someone to do the field work at $75.00 a month and Mr. Hancammon to
receive $53.84 for the inside work. Such plan to become effective October 1.
Motion carried.
The Health Officer asked for and received approval of the Board for
assigning the plumbing inspector to routine inspection of eating places,
under Dr. Huffman's direction, whenever not engaged in the inspection of
plumbing.
There being no further business, the Board adjourned.
Approved: Sept 1937 A. H. Elliot, Clerk
