REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING BOARD OF HEALTH
HELD IN OFFICE OF BOARD

Present: Mr. Addison Hewlett, Chairman, Dr. J. C. Wessell, Dr. W.
Houston Moore, Dr. James H. Smith, Mayor E. L. White, Mr. H. M.
Roland.
The minutes of the last meeting ,.ere read and approved.
The Health Officer presented the monthly reports.
~~yor E. L. White was continued as a committee of one to investigate
the possibility of free water for the indigent in the case of water-
flush toilets.
The Health Officer asked for and received authority to pay the per-
sonnel in accordance with the 1947-1948 appropriations.
After the Health Officer read a letter from Dr. Wessell stating that
the Red Cross Sanatorium, Inc. would pay the expense of a mass tuber-
culosis X-ray survey not to exceed $4000.00, it waS moved by Mayor
White, seconded by Dr. Moore,that this offer be accepted with thanks.
Carried.
Dr. Wessell discussed briefly the possibility of requiring all school
teachers to be X-rayed.
After a brief discussion of the State Department of Agriculture >>ilk
Ordinance, it was moved by Dr. Wessell, seconded by llr, Roland" that
we retain two features of our individual milk ordinance; that is, that
it continue to be a requirement that the day of the week be put on the
cap of the milk bottle and that all milk delivered in Wilmington and New
Hanover County be pasteurized. Carried.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
