REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING BOARD OF HEALTH
HELD IN OFFICE OF BOARD
JUNE 8, 1949
Present: Mr. Addison Hewlett, Chairman, Mayor Royce S. McClelland, Dr.
J. C. Wessell, Dr. James H. Smith and Dr. J. C. Knox.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
The Health Officer presented the monthly reports.
Mr. Edwards explained to the Board members a problem in the milk supply.
Up until recently White's plant had been receiving a very satisfactory
supply of milk directly from West Virginia purchased through Coble's Dairy
in Lexington, but that recently the supply was coming from Lexington and
was having very high bacterial counts. Preceeding this change, the depart-
meht of agriculture had raised the question of no permit having been se-
cured to import West Virginia milk.

Wessell, that Mr. Edwards and the Health Officer see Mr. White and do every-
thing possible to again secure the West Virginia milk or some milk equally
as good. Carried.

~3l4.30 as a result of the mandamus action against the Board of Health
by a Raleigh firm. At his request he was authorized to pay such a bill
out of any unexpended budget items, if such were available at the end of
the fiscal year. The Health Officer was further advised that if such
funds were not available that the attorney's bill should be presented to the
city and county appropriating authorities for inclusion in the 1949-1950
bud get.
The Health (Jfficer was also authorized to use any unexpended budget items
to take care of any overexpended budget items.
The Health (Jfficer presented a tentative budget for the coming fiscal year
and on motion of Dr. Wessell, seconded by Dr. Knox, the budget was adopted
as presented.
