HELD IN OFFICE OF BuAIW
OCTOBER 12, 1949
Present: Hr. Addison Hewlett, Chairman, Mayor Royce S. McClelland,
Dr. J. C. Wessell, Dr. James H. Smith, Mr. H. M. Roland and Dr. J. C.
Knox.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
The Health Officer presented the monthly reports.
The Health Officer informed the members of the Board that the Town of
Carolina Be~ch had adopted regulations carrying out the Board's re-
commendations on the installation of septic tanks in the low ground
at the northern extension of Carolina Beach.

In connection with the Plumbing Inspector's salary, Mayor McClelland
advised the Board members that the City Council had agreed to provide
their part of a salary of $275.00 per month for the Plumbing Inspector.
The Health ufficer was then authorized to appear before the Board of
County Cormnissioners an,. request that that body provide their portion
of the ~275.00 per month for the Plumbing Inspector.

Dr. Wessell succested that the old X-ray apparatus stored in the base-
ment of the Court House be properly protected against moisture, etc.
Mr. Hewlett agreed that Court House employees would do the labor if
Mr. Bass would direct just how this apparatus should be protected.
Mr. Roland, Superintendent of Schools, and the Health Officer dis-
cussed briefly with the Board members tentative plans for the use of
the State funds appropriated for corrections of defects in school
children. No specific action 'h'S taken on this matter.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourm,d.
