Copies of the minut"s of the last rr.eeting having been sent to the
Board members, the readinf of the minutes were d-Lspensed with.
The Health Officer reported that he had contacted Hr. Melton reVardine
his hog pen and that Hr. Nelton is apparently wi'lin!, to cooperate in
an;yr 1.'Tay possible to corrEct the sit'~at.ion.
Dr, Smith stated that they had not received any reports on the grading
of restaurants recent' y; t.hat the January report shO'..red thirty places
grad,,,i that month. The Health Officer stated that the February reports
had not been completed.

Hr. h. b. tBrshall, Agent,for Mrs. John R. Hawes, and Mr, Alan V~rshall,
Attorney for Hrs. halVes, appeared before the Board to discuss the sewer
problem at Nos. 805; 807; 80') and 811 Queen Street. Hr. Alan Narshall
presented the Hawes' case as a hardship case anu asked for additional
time to remedy the defects. On motion by Dr. \vessell, seconded by Dr.
Smith, Mrs. Hawes was instructed to make immediate correction on two places
Nos. 805 and 811, and the other two,Nos. 807 and 809 would be permitted to
remain until they developed trouble at \fhich time they IVould be corrected
according to the plunlbing code of New Hanover County.
Dr. Wessell reported that the nurse employed by the Tuberculosis Association
had started to \'lOrk.
Hr. Richard Shew appeared before the Board in behalf of Nr. George Coble,
stating that Hr. Coble wan' ed to get a permit to sell milk in \'lilmington and
New Hanover County, but that the Board of H~alth had refused to issue a permit
t.o him. Hr. SheVl ,.,as told by the Board that they had never refnsed to issue
a permit to Hr. Coble, but that Hr. Coble would first have to obt.ain a permit
from the N. C. Hilk Cormnbsion and that Hr. Coble had been so advised. To date
Mr. Coble had not received t.he perl'1it from the N. C. Hilk ComI'ission.
It was explained that Hr. Coble, last February, through his represent.ative
Mr. Broome, asked if !chis deparLment would issne a nermit. to the Coble Dairy
Products Company to sell milk in New Hanover County. Thp. ansvmr was nYes";
and Mr. Broome was asked if he wanted to complete the application for the
permit at that time, to which he re;clied "that he did not wish to make forrr:al
application at that time." Coble Dairy Products Company did make for:nal ap-
plication for a milk pnrmit in October 19S3.

After a lengthy discussion of the matter of the pormit to the Coble Dairy
Products Company, Dr. Smith made the motion, seconded by Dr. Hessell, that. the
Eoard of HLalth's attorney write to the Attorney General for an opinion re-
garding the relationship of the permit needed by Coble Dairy Products Company

from the N. C. Hilk Commission and the issuance of a permit to that
Company by this department.

The Health Officer mentioned that Mr, Zellers, member of the Plumbing
EXBJniners Board, due to his work as a fireman, was unable to take an
active part on the Board and thought it b"st to replace him. It was
suggested that the Health Of icer get a list of qualified I!len for the
place and subrrdt it to the Board.
There being no further business, the meetinr, adjourned.
