Dr. Benjamin H. Allen. PSYChologist in the Mental Health Division. attended the
Board meeting and expressed the thought that his contacts with public health for the
past month had been interesting. infonniilll4and stimulating. Having had no previous
public health experience. he stated that 1J was surprised at the ramification and
services rendered by a public health department. He also felt that a large part of
the general public was not aware of the public health program and felt that it would
be of service to the department for him to develop. through picture slides. the story
of the New Hanover County Health Department I s activities. Inasmuch as the Board of
Health is the policy making body he asked that they allow him to start this activity
by taking their picture. The Board agreed to this and the picture was taken.
