Smith, Dr. J. C. Knox and Dr. R. Bryant Hare, Jr. On motion by Dr. Knox, seconded by Dr. Hare, the minutes of the last meeting were approved without reading, copies having been sent to the Board members. Carried. A statement from Mr. Bradford Tillery, Attorney, for legal services rendered in the John Galog plumbing case for $150.00 was received, and on motion by Dr. Knox, seconded by Dr. Wagoner, was approved by the Board for payment from the contingent fund. Carried. The resignations from Miss Viola Bolyn, Secretary, and ~1r. J. B. Edwards, Director of the Health Department Laboratory, to become effective H3.rch 31, 1962, and April 15, 1962, respectively, 1;ere received and on motion by Dr. Knox, seconded by Dr. Wagoner, were accepted with regret. ...~ Mr. Edwards thanked the Board for their many kindnesses and cooperation and mentioned the names of the Board members he had had the privilege of "fOrking with; namely, Chairmans of the Board were Hessrs. Addison HeHlett, Ralph Horton, James E. Holton and James H. Hall, Jr.; Health Directors were Drs. John H. Hamilton; A. H. Elliot and C. B. Davis; Hedical members of the Board were Drs. J. C. Wessell; R. B. Slocum; Houston W. Hoore;J. C. Knox and R. Bryant Hare, Jr.: Dental members were Drs. H. L. Keith; Robert Horrison and James H. Smith; 11l.yors City of Wilmington, ''fllter H. Blair; Hargrove Bellamy; Thomas E. Cooper; Bruce Cameron, Sr.; Ronald Lane; E. L. White;Dan Cameron; J. E. L. Wade and O. O. A request for the use of an emergency Generator for the County Home was made by Chairman Hall. On motion by Dr. Knox, seconded by Dr. Hare, permission was granted pending the release of this equipment by the Surplus Property Agency and with the understanding that in case the Health Department needs it for an emergency it would be returned to them. Motion carried. Hr. Edwards stated to the Board that he felt the Fluorescent Kicroscope in the Health Department Laboratory should be used for the benefit of as many people as pOSSible, and to do this its use should be made available to the private physicians, particularly the pediatricians as an aide in diagnosis of Streptococcus A. In this connection Dr. Knox read a letter from Dr. Fred J. Kittler of the Chronic Disease Section, State Board of Health, suggesting that he would be glad to meet with the pediatricians to discuss methods of the utilization of this Scope. As of this time, other than the State Board of Health Laboratory of Hygiene, there is no other Scope of this type available in public health in North Carolina. ~ . Chairman Hall asked Dr. Allen, PSYChologist, how his work is pregressing. Dr.Allen stated that the mental health program is progressing and we anticipate making some errors. He further stated that the Health Director has assumed no responsibility for the program, but has given it to me and I certainly hope in this connection that I have the backing of the Board. Chairman Hall replied that you have that and continue to ~lOrk on the program. On motion by Dr. Knox, seconded by Dr. Hare, the meeting adjourned. Approved ~ If 1962 i~ /J~ Clerk
