RmULAR MONTHLY lOOTING BOARD OF HEALTH
HELD IN OFFICE OF BOARD
September 5, 1962

Present: Mr. James M. Hall, Jr., Chairman, Mayor O. O. Allsbrook, Dr. James
H. Smith, and Dr. J. C. Knox.
Mayor Allsbrook made a motion that in order to give Mr. J. M. Teeter, Sanitarian,
and his attorney, Robert E. Calder, sufficient time to contact the State Agency
to determine whether Mr. Teeter's authority to act for State Board of Health
can be restored, and that he be given until September 24, 1962, to take whatever
action be suitable and that he shall remain on pay status until that date. Dr.
Knox seconded this motion and it was carried.
Dr. J. C. Knox made a motion that the minutes of the last meeting be approved
without reading, copies having been given to Board Members. Mayor O. O. Alls-
brook seconded this motion and it was carried.
The Board was reminded by the Health Director that according to the minutes of
the Regular Board meeting of February 7, 1962, Mrs. Josephine B. Liles, Account-
ing Clerk ll, was to have a salary increase to the amount of $300.00 per month,
effective August 15, 1962. On motion by Mayor Allsbrook, it was moved that she
receive the salary increase accordingly. Dr. Knox seconded this motion and it
was carried.

Dr. C. B. Davis, Health Director, recommended that the Board of Health endorse
the Surgeon General's suggestion about the public securing Flu vaccine in view
of an anticipated high incident of Asian Flu predicted this winter. The pre-
vious policy adopted of not administering Flu vaccine by this Health Department
staff was reaffirmed by common consent.
Dr. Davis reported on the Stroke Program.
and seconded by Dr. Smith, was written to
cooperation in such a program.
A letter upon motion made by Dr. Knox
the Medical Society seeking their
Dr. James H. Smith made a motion that Dr. Benjamin Allen be designated as "Acting
Director" of the Mental Health Center. Mayor Allsbrook seconded this motion and
it was carried.
Dr. J. C. Knox made a motion that Dr. Benjamin Allen write a letter to Dr. Joe
Hooper, President, Medical Society, to inform them of the facility of Mental
Health Program and ask for their endorsement of the Mental Health Center. Dr.
Smith seconded this motion and it was carried.
Dr. Allen stated that he would like to attend a meeting on Child Guidance to
be held at Quincy, Massachusetts. Dr. Smith made a motion that Dr. Allen be
authorized to attend this meeting and his expenses be paid from Mental Health
Funds. Dr. Knox seconded this motion and it was carried.

Dr. Allen asked if there were Board policies governing his speaking on behalf of
United Fund. It was agreed that there was nothing against it and it could possi-
bly be beneficial.
Chairman Hall made a motion to adjourn. Dr. Knox seconded this motion and it
was carried.
