HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/05/1962 357 RIDULAR MONTHLY MEETING BOARD OF HEALTH HELD IN OFFICE OF BOARD December 5, 1962 --- Present: Mr. James M. Hall, Jr., Chairman, Dr. R. Bryant Hare, Jr., and Dr. J. C. Knox. Chairman Hall called the meeting to order. After hearing the minutes read of the last Board Meeting, Dr. R. Bryant Hare, Jr., made a motion that the minutes be approved. Dr. J. C. Knox seconded the motion. Carried. Chairman Hall reported that Dr. Davis claimed that since the North Carolina State Board of Health are withholding the last quarter funds, due to approval of the Board of lIealth Budget, the Board of Health could run short of funds. Chairman Hall stated that today he had contacted Mr. T. D. Love, County Auditor, and that the Board of Health could get advance appropriations when needed. ~. Davis reported that Mr. Tillery, County Attorney, was preparing legal papers ~~~r adoption of the amendments to the plumbing code as they relate to septic tanks. There was a general discussion on purchasing a mosquito control truck. Dr. Davis stated that there were available funds for a truck. It was decided that action be taken on this at a later date. ,. .... Dr. Davis reported that after discussing further with Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company, he felt that the services discussed would not be sufficient for our present needs, and the cost was too great for an additional line. He said he would like to investigate further. - Chairman Hall brought about a general discussion on the lengthly Board M.eetings and the number of people who attended them. By consensus of the Board, it was approved that in interest of time saving at Board Meetings, that unless Dr. Davis or the Board felt they needed them, staff members need not be present. During the Mental lIealth portion of the Board Meeting, Dr. Benjamin H. Allen, Psychologist, reported that he was teaching a course in Mental Hygiene at Wilming- ton College. He also reported that Dr. Jones, Child Psychiatrist at Duke Univer- sity, plans to continue his practice there and would not be available for this Mental Health Clinic, as he had hoped.
