COM8INED COLLECTION PERCENTAGE EXCLUDING BANKRUPTCIES AND APPEALS - 98.35' 136 RESOLunON WHEREAS, the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners desires to sponsor a demonstration project to stabilize a portion of the rapidly eroding streambanks at the Snow's Cut Park. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: 1) The Board requests the State of North Carolina to provide financial assistance to New Hanover County for the Snow's Cut Bank Stabilization Demonstration Project in the amount of $46,000 or 662/3 percent of project construction cost, whichever is the lesser amount; 2) The Board assumes full obligation for payment of the balance of project costs; 3) The Board will obtain all necessary State and Federal permits; 4) The Board will comply with all applicable laws governing the award of contracts and the expenditure of public funds by local governments; 5) The Board will supervise construction of the project to assure compliance with permit conditions and to assure safe and proper construction according to approved plans and spedfications; 6) The Board will obtain suitable spoil disposal areas as needed and all other easements or rights-of-way that may be necessary for the construction and operation of the project without cost or obligation to the State; 7) The Board will assure that the project is open for use by the public on an equal basis; 8) The Board will hold the State harmless from any damages that may result from the construction, operation and maintenance of the project; 9) The Board accepts responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the completed project. '\/ 1;)~O. ~ Chairman, New Hanover County Board ofC erk to the Board 10 PROCLAt'\1ATION EIGHTY-FIFTH At'<NIVERSARY oftbe NORTH CAROLINA COOPERATIVE EXTENSION SERVICE 1999 WHEREAS, eighty-five years ago, the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service was established as a partnership of county, state and federal governments; and WHEREAS, the essence of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service has long been to help people put knowledge to work so that they can improve their lives; and WHEREAS, Extension has been a supportive partner of other county programs, including but not limited to social services and natural resources; and WHEREAS, throughout its history, Extension has focused on providing people with educational programs that meet their needs, providing decision-makers with objective information and providing the framework for successful individuals, families and communities; and WHEREAS, Extension takes the research of North Carolina's two land-grant institutions, North Carolina State University and North Carolina A&T State University, and develops educational resources based upon the needs of North Carolinians; and WHEREAS, Extension centers are located in all 100 counties and on the Cherokee Reservation; NOW, THEREFORE, the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners does hereby proclaim August 27,1999, as "EXTENSION HERITAGE DAY" in North Carolina, and urges all county citizens to use, visit and support their local Extension Service, and encourages all North Carolinians to join us in celebration of this anniversary Adopted this the second day of August, 1999 't.)d1~~ Q. ~ William A. Caster, Chairman RESOLUTION APPROVING M(jDIFICATION TO COMPOSITION OF THE CAPE FEAR COAST CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU, INC WHEREAS, the CVB has recommended that the number of Directors be increased from sixteen (16) to seventeen (I Tl members with two (2) members bcmg selected from the Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations profession, one ( I) being appointed by the New Hanover County Boarcj of Commissioners and one (I) being appointed by the Wilmington City CounciL and WHeREAS, the CVB also has recolllmcnded certain ehangcs to its Bylaws consistent with such change in membcrship, emd thc changcs in such Bylaws arc subject to approval by the New Hanover Count: Board ofCul1J11Issioners and the Wilmmgton City Council, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLYED BY THE NEW HANOVER COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS THAT I The New Hanover County Board of ComElissioners hereby approves the above change to the composition of the CVB Board of Directors. 2. lhe Ncw Hanover County Board of Commissioners further approves the changes to the Bylaws of the CVB, attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by reference. _1J~ Q. r~____ Wi:liam A.
