Knox, Dr. James Smith, Dr. James Tidler, Dr. William Wagoner, Mayor O. O. Allsbrook, Attorney Bradford L. Tillery The minutes of the May 12th meeting were approved by motion of Dr. Smith, seconded by Mayor Allsbrook. Notion carried. Plumbing Code Status: Mr. Tillery reported on a letter he had from the Attorney General regarding the plumbing code. According to the Attorney General, our plumbing code must be approved by the Building Code Council. After discussion and after it was brought out that we are still operating under our old plumbing code, Dr. Wagoner made the motion that we proceed with the publication of the Amendments to this old code as adopted in the February, 1965 meeting and that these amendments be put into effect. Dr. Knox seconded the motion. Motion carried. - Dr. Smith made a motion that the Committee begin study of the State Code, adding necessary amendments, and that this be presented to the Building Codes Council. The committee previously appointed by Mr. James M. Hall, Jr. who have already been working on the Plumbing Code will be asked to remain on the Committee. They are as follows: Robert G. Smith, Lacy O. Goodyear, Frank I. Ballard, J. L. Prince, Rufus J. Parlier, Norman l1cKenzie, with Mr. W. H. Cranford as the Health Department Representative. Also, included in the motion was, that if any member cannot serve, the Chairman of the Board of Health would appoint replacements. Motion was seconded by Dr. Knox. Motion carried. Journeyman Plumbing Examination: The committee to restudy the Journeyman Plumber's Examination met with I'~. Bradford L. Tillery, Attorney for the Board of Health, and agreed to require only two parts of the "lead wiping test" which is now in- cluded in the examination. These two are: the four inch joint, and the drum trap. Masonboro Area Drainage Ditch: Mr. Harry Berman, Mr. George Talman and Mr. Underwood, their engineer, appeared before the Board again asking that we dig the ditch in question deeper. It was pointed out again to them that the primary concern of the Board of Health was Mosquito Control and not land drainage. In the opinion of Hr. Keith Oates, State Engineer, and I~. W. H. Cranford, Director of Sanitation, this has been done, therefore there is nothing further that we can do concerning this matter. -- Chronic Disease Program Nurse: It was called to the attention of the Board that we are losing one nurse under the State Chronic Disease Project. Money that has previously been allotted by the State for Physical Therapy has been used (with their permission) to hire a nurse since Physical Therapy was not available. Now that Physical Therapy is available, this money will have to go for this. Per- mission was asked of the Board that we be allowed to pay the salary of this nurse for six months, until a new project is approved which will absorb her. Realizing that we cannot ask for additional money from the County, permission was asked that if we can find a way to pay her, using some $500.00 in State money which 408 - will be carried over (with their permission) and the difference in the PHN' lis J salaries and Trainee's Salaries. Dr. TidIer made the motion that if money can be used from funds allocated and if proper budget arrangements can be made that we pay the salary of this nurse for these months. Dr. Smith seconded the motion. Motion carried. It was pointed out by 11iss A. Lou Davis, Director of Nurses, that if we lose this nurse who has already been oriented to the work it would be an added expense to have to train a new person.
