MINUTES OF BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING, December 6, 1967

Present: Mayor O. O. Allsbrook, presiding, Dr. James Smith, Dr. J. C.
Knox, Dr. James Tidler, Attorney Bradford L. Tillery
Minutes of the November 22, 1967 meeting were approved.
Audit for 1966-67: The Audit Report by Cherry, Bekaert and Holland was
approved by motion of Dr. Smith, seconded by Dr. TicUer. Motion carried.
Status of Mobile Home Ordinance: Mr. Bradford L. Tillery presented some
of the differences in our Mobile Home Ordinance and the New County Mobile
Home Ordinance. After some discussion, Dr. Smith made the motion that
Dr. Davis and Mr. Cranford go over the two ordinances and make them as
near identical as possible. This motion was seconded by Dr. Tidler.
Motion carried.
Status of Plumbing Code: Mr. Tillery suggested that all the plumbing
fees be republished since this had not been done since we adopted the
State Plumbing Code. Mr. Tillery also suggested that we have the
Plumbing Code printed in booklet form. Dr. Tidler made the motion that
the fees be publiEhed, that Dr. Davis investigate the cost of printing
the code, and that Mr. Tillery begin preparing the code for printing.
This motion "Was seconded by Dr. Knox. Motion carried.

Sanitation Department: Mr. W. H. Cranford, Director of Sanitation
Activities, appeared before the County Commissioners on December 4, 1967
to ask permission to keep the Sanitarian "Who has been paid by the Air
Pollution Program. The Commissioners asked for a resolution from our
Board with their recommendation in the matter. After much discussion, it
was decided that the action taken at the November meeting was sufficient.
Several Board Members expressed their opinion that we do need the services
of this Sanitarian very much, and that Mr. Cranford and Dr. Davis should
get all the material together and present this need to the County Commission-
ers at their next meeting.
Dr. Davis also asked the Board for their opinion in referring to the
Sanitation Department as Environmental Health and to the Sanitarians as
Environmental Hygienists. There was no objection by the members of the
Board to the use of these terms.
Mr. Tillery: Members of the Board and Dr. Davis expressed their thanks to
Mr. Tillery for his past services since this was his last meeting with this
Board. Mayor Allsbrook suggested that Dr. Davis and Dr. Hooper write a
letter of appreciation to Mr. Tillery on behalf of the Board of Health.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
