509
005C9
Present: Mr, J, Van B, Metts, Jr" Chairman, Dr, Heyward Bellamy, Dr, James
Smith, Dr, Frank Reynolds, Dr, James Tidler
Minutes of the February 4 meeting were approved by motion of Dr, Bellamy, seconded
by Dr, Tidler,
Visiting by Nurses in Districts: Dr, Knox brought to the attention of the Board
that several of our nurses have been frightened while visiting in their districts
by groups of males gathering outside of the homes in which they were visiting,
When the nurse starts back to her car these males ask them to take them for a
ride, etc, After much discussion and many suggestions, such as, bringing this
to the attention of the Good neighbor Council, putting radios in the nurses cars,
keeping a list of times and places this occurs; it was decided that this is an
administrative problem and suggestion was made that Dr, Knox talk with the Chief
of Police and the Sheriff to see if the nurses could carry some sort of protection
with them,
.
New Quarters: A report was given as to recommendations by Mr, Reagan of Reagan
Construction Company for renovating the JWMH building, It was suggested that we
first check with Mr, James Fox, attorney, to see if we are required to have an
engineer or architect draw up the plans for heating, air conditioning, plumbing
and wiring since it is a public building, After this has been checked, the next
step is to find out what the immediate cost for this would be and, working with
Mr, Bowden, present this cost to the County Commissioners, It was also suggested
that we find out how much it will cost to bring the existing elevator into first
class condition, It was suggested that except for the above mentioned items, that
workmen be put on the County payroll to do the carpenter work and painting,
Plumbing Examination for Journeyman Plumbers: Motion was made by Dr, Bellamy,
seconded by Dr, Smith and carried, that the attached amendment to the plumbing
code be adopted,
Solid Waste Disposal: At 8:45 A, M, the members of the Board attended a meeting
in the County Commissioners Building where slides were shown of existing conditions
in the County, The presidents of the Home Demonstration Clubs and the Garden Clubs
were present for these films,
Since the hour was so late when this meeting was over the quorum was lost, so the
meeting was adjourned,
Respectfully submitted,
