HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/07/1970 tID525 . MINUTES OF BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING, October 7, 1970 -.-... Present I Mr. J. Van B. Metts, Jr., Chairman, Dr. Frank Reynolds, Dr. James Smi th, Mr. James C. Fox, Attorney Minutes of the September 2 meeting were approved. New Quarters I Dr. Reynolds and Dr. Bellamy were asked to investigate the availability of Hill-Burton Funds for a new Health Department building. Size of Water Tanks and Pumps: Letters were read between Mr. Dan Hardee and our attorney, Mr. Fox, regarding a water tank which had been installed by Mr. Hardee which did not meet requirements adopted by the Board of Health. Dr. Knox was asked to talk with Mr. Lacy Goodyear to find out just what health implications are involved in the size of the water tank. Mr. Fox will wait until he hears from Dr. Knox before beginning legal proceedings. (After the meeting Mr. Goodyear told Dr. Knox that there were no health problems connected with using the small tank and pump.) Salary for Percolation Test Bu~et, Dr. Knox asked permission to increase the salary set for this position to that of a Sanitarian I. Dr. Reynolds made the motion, seconded by Dr. Smith, that we request the County Commissioners to increase this salary, taking part of the unused salary set aside in the budget for a laborer. Motion carried. ....... Bids on Truck for Percolation Test Program: Mr. Perry Shepard, County AUditor, had advertised for bids on this truck but we only received one bid. This bid was from Cape Fear Motor Sales, Inc. Dr. Reynolds made the motion that we accept this bid, subject to the approval of our attorney. Dr. Smith seconded the motion, motion carried. (Mr. Fox checked out the bid and advised that it was in order.) . X-Ray, Dr. Knox told the Board that we needed two new Cassettes for X-Ray and that we had money in our equipment account. The Board agreed that we should purchase these if needed. Dr. Knox also asked the Board to set a policy on how long we should keep negative X-Rays in our files. Mr. Metts asked Dr. Knox to investigate what others were doing and report at next meeting before policy was set. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
