1999-09-20 RM Exhibits RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF NEW HANOVER COUNTY WHEREAS, after due advertisement, bids were received and publicly opened by the Finance Department at 3:00 p.m., on the 7th day of September, ]999, at the County Administration Building, 320 Chestnut Street, Wilmington, North Carolina, and the following bids were received for an upgrade of the IBM AS/400 for the Information Technology Department, Bid # 00-0]] 8. COMBINED COLLECTION PERCENTAGE - 1.53% New Hanover County Board of Commissioners PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the Lower Cape Fear River Program is a research and monitoring program supported by local industry and goveriunents, including New Hanover County; and WHEREAS, data is collected from 35 instream monitoring sites in the Lower Cape Fear River Basin and tests conducted for a number of parameters including metals and biological factors in order to assess water quality in the river and estuaries; and WHEREAS, one of the missions of the lower Cape Fear River Program is to educate citizens about the river and its watershed; and WHEREAS, the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners, through the funding of various tidal creek and water quality studies, is committed to ensuring a clean, safe, healthy economy and environment; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT PROCLAIMED, the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners designates the month of October as "Cape Fear River Awareness Month" in New Hanover County, and urges citizens to take part in the educational programs offered by the Lower Cape Fear River Program and encourages the river's use as a recreational, economic and educational resource. For over one hundred years, hunters and anglers have been at the forefront of the conservation movement giving of their time and finances. They have provided more than $21 billion to wildlife management programs, contributing $3.5 million per day nationally; and WHEREAS, the financial suppon has provided the basis for scientific research, habitat restoration, and education, which have led to the dramatic come back of wildlife in North Carolina, such as wild turkey, river otters, tundra swans, shore birds, bald eagles, alligators, fur bearers, and others; and WHEREAS, responsible hunters and anglers are appreciated for their awareness and respect of the natural environment and their efforts in contributions to its conservation; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners does hereby proclaim Saturday, September 25, 1999, as Hunting and Fishing Day in New Hanover County and urge all our citizens to join with hunters, anglers and other responsible conservationists to ensure the wise use and proper management of our natural resources to benefit future generations.
