PROCLAMATION DECLARING A CURFEW
IN NEW HANOVER COUNTY
WHEREAS, the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners declared a State of Emergency
pursuant to County Ordinance Article II, Section 6.7 16, Chapter 166A of the North Carolina General Statutes
on the 25th of August] 998; and
WHEREAS, the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners has determined that in the best
interest of the public health and safety of the citizens, a curfew will be established in New Hanover County'
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT all persons in New Hanover County shall
observe a curfew and remain in their homes or other shelter during the hours from 8:00 p.m. on this the 26th
day of August 1998, until the hour of 6:00 a.m. on 27th of August, ] 998 or until such curfew is terminated
at a time earlier than that specified herein.
During the existence of the curfew pursuant to the State of Emergency it shall be unlawful for any
one subject to such curfew to be or travel upon any public street, alley or roadway or other public property
unless in search of medical assistance or services necessary to sustain himself/herself or his/her family or
some member thereof.
PROCLAIMED at 1.30 p.m. on the 26th day of August 1998.
