1995-04-18 RM Exhibits / RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF NEW HANOVER COUNTY WHEREAS, after due advertisement, bids were received and publicly opened by the Finance Department at 11:00 a.m. on the 4th day of April, 1995, at the County Administration Building, 320 Chestnut Street, Wilmington, North Carolina, and the following bids were received for fourteen (14) AS/400 printers for the Social Services Department, Bid # 95-0236: Eastern Technology Associates, Inc. Atlantic Computer Division of Gary Brown Associates, Inc. $58,486.00 $61,030.00 AND WHEREAS, the Social Services Department, the M.I.S. Director, the Finance Director and the County Manager recommend that the contract be awarded to Eastern Technology Associates, Inc. of Wilmington, North Carolina, the lowest responsible bidder, in the amount of Fifty-eight Thousand Four Hundred Eighty-six Dollars ($58,486.00); AND WHEREAS, funds have been previously appropriated and are now in or will be in subsequent year's budget Account No. 110-420-4200-1000-5940 to cover this contract; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of New Hanover County that the contract for fourteen (14) AS/400 printers for the Social Services Department, Bid # 95-0236 be awarded to Eastern Technology Associates, Inc. in the amount of Fifty-eight Thousand Four Hundred Eighty-six Dollars ($58,486.00); and that the County is hereby authorized and directed to execute the contract, contract form to be approved by the County Attorney. Greer, Chairman of New Hanover County Commissioners, North Carolina, designate and proclaim April 22, 1995 as Earth Day, and urge all individuals, corporations and communities to celebrate this event and work together to focus attention on the need for further restoration and conservation of our planet, Earth. Greer, Chairman Attest: ~~-jJ~) b~pu.:+-~ Clerk to the Board A RESOLUTION OF THE NEW HANOVER COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS The Board of Commissioners of New Hanover County, North Carolina, does hereby resolve: WHEREAS, Senate Bill 426, proposed March 20, 1995, would create undue burdens on local governments attempting to comply with excessively demanding public record requirements; and WHEREAS, the proposed legislation would adversely impact the County's reasonable discretion in selecting data processing systems; and WHEREAS, the proposed legislation would constitute an extreme financial burden on the County, in terms of allocation of equipment and personnel, while not allowing the County to fully recoup all costs incurred in responding to specific information requests; and WHEREAS, the proposed legislation has no specific provisions designed to protect the personal privacy rights of citizens from overly intrusive information requesters; and WHEREAS, the proposed legislation would essentially be an unfunded mandate imposed on the County. NOW, THEREFORE, the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners resolves that the local legislative delegation be asked to vote against Senate Bill 426, and that the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners be requested to oppose enactment of said bill.
