ADDITIONAL ITEMS - COUNTY ATTORNEY ,., PLEMINGTON ORDINANCE REVISION County Attorney Pope explained that an error was discovered in the metes and bounds of the Flemington Ordinance, requested approval to add 50" to be sure the landfill area is included, it should read 77 degrees 58' and 50.. u Commissioner Dolan MOVED, SECONDED by Commissioner Corbett to add 50" to the metes and bounds description wi thin the Flemington Ordinance. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. A copy of the revised Flemington Ordinance is on file in the Clerk's office for codification in the County Code. Commissioner Retchin to adjourn. Bragg, Deputy Clerk [ MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF JUNE 3. 1987 ASSEMBLY The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners met in Special Session on Wednesday, June 3, 1987, at 9:00 o'clock A.M. in the Assembly Room of the New Hanover County Administration Building, 320 Chestnut Street, Wilmington, North Carolina. Members present were: Commissioners Jonathan Barfield, Sr.: W. Albert Corbett, Jr.: Fred Retchin: Vice-Chairman John M. Dolan: Chairman, Nolan O'Neal: County Manager, G. Felix Cooper: and Deputy Clerk to the Board, Joyce B. Bragg. Chairman O'Neal called the Special Session to order stating the purpose of the meeting was to listen to various funding requests for Fiscal Year 1987-88 from non-county agencies. CONTINUATION OF SPECIAL MEETING, JUNE 4, 1987 ASSEMBLY The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners met in Special Session on Thursday, June 4, 1987, at 8:00 o'clock A.M. in the Assembly Room of the New Hanover County Administration Building, 320 Chestnut Street, Wilmington, North Carolina. Commissioner Barfield gave a list of his recommendations for funding outside agencies, reflecting increase/decrease to the Human Services Allocation Advisory Committee's recommendations as follows: Katie B. Hines Center Rape Crisis Center Domestic Violence Shelter & Services Hospitality House of Wilmington Information and Referral Elderhaus Cape Fear Substance Abuse Center Child Advocacy Commission Families in Crisis UCP Developmental Center Food Bank $ 4,000 increase 9,000 increase 2,000 increase 25,000 increase 4,000 increase 25,275 as rec. 6,000 as rec. 9,042 as rec. 1,000 as rec. 2,500 increase 5,000 increase , Commissioner Barfield agreed to contribute the following to outside agencies as recommended by the County Manager: DARE Soil & Water Conservation District Clean Community Commission Wilm.-N.H. Port, Waterway, & Bch. Comm. S.E. Chairman O'Neal recessed the meeting for a break at 9:00 o'clock A.M. until 9:40 o'clock A.M. so that he could participate in a grand opening ceremony for Carolina Savings Bank. LJ Vice Chairman Dolan suggested that the Commissioners cut some of the outside agencies to eliminate the 3.3% of the budget which represents the four cents tax increase recommended by the County Manager, and request the County Manager to identify cuts in programs that he feels will result in eliminating the four cents proposed tax increase, or cut it across the board. After a lengthy discussion about the tax increase, Commissioner Corbett MOVED, SECONDED by Vice Chairman Dolan to direct the County Manager to review the budget to identify areas where reductions can be made to offset the four cents proposed tax increase and bring the revised budget back for approval by the County Commissioners.
