The City further supports their 3pplication to North Carolina Housing Finance Agency for law Incoma tax credits for this development, The Hooper School Apartments. ihe conversion of the Hooper SchoOl Into twenty two (22) 3partments for elderly residents and the new construction of twenty-eight (28) multi-family apartments on the Hooper campus is an excellent way for the City to reclaim a once viable academic building for new and necessary US~ of hoysing for the efderly' and low income families. Providing safe, sanitary and affordable housing for the elderly and families by the private sector is highly desirable and works in tandem with the efforts by the City and W11FD to increase the supply of affordable housing City wide.
