NEW
WHEREAS, after due advertisement, bids were received and
publicly opened by the Finance Department at 2:00 p.m. on the
28th day of June, 1994, at the County Administration Building,
320 Chestnut Street, Wilmington, North Carolina, and the following
bids were received for One (1) Sanitary Landfill Compactor of Four
Wheel Design for the New Hanover County Landfill and the sale of a
1986 Caterpillar 816B Compactor as a trade-in, Bid # 94-0383:

AND WHEREAS, the Finance Director recommends that the 1986
Caterpillar 816B Compactor be disposed of by means of trade-in on
the purchase of a Sanitary Landfill Compactor of Four Wheel Design
in the amount of Twenty-two Thousand Dollars ($22,000.00);
AND WHEREAS, the Environmental Management Director, the
Finance Director and the County Manager recommend that the contract
be awarded by the Total Cost Method to Gregory Poole Equipment
Company, a foreign corporation organized under the laws of the
state of Delaware, the only responsible bidder, in the amount of
Two Hundred Eighteen Thousand Three Hundred Ninety-eight Dollars
($218,398.00);
AND WHEREAS, the initial purchase will amount to Two Hundred
Thirteen Thousand Sixty-eight Dollars ($213,068.00), the
Maintenance and Repair Expenses will be paid as incurred up to
maximum guaranteed amount of Sixty Thousand Three Hundred Thirty
Dollars ($60,330.00), and the County will determine at the end of
the five year period whether or not to exercise the buy back option
in the amount of Fifty-five Thousand Dollars ($55,000.00);
AND WHEREAS, funds have been previously appropriated and are
now in or will be available in subsequent year's Account No.
720-480-8000-6000-SWPRJ01G or 700-480-4191-3920 to cover this
contract;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of New Hanover County that the contract for One (1)
Sani tary Landfill Compactor of Four Wheel Design for the New
Hanover.County Landfill, Bid # 94-0383 be awarded by the total cost
method to Gregory Poole Equipment Company in the amount of Two
Hundred Eighteen Thousand Three Hundred Ninety-eight Dollars
($218,398.00); the initial purchase will amount to Two Hundred
Thirteen Thousand Sixty-eight Dollars ($213,068.00), the
Maintenance and Repair Expenses will be paid as incurred up to
maximum guaranteed amount of Sixty Thousand Three Hundred Thirty
Dollars ($60,330.00), and the County will determine at the end of
the five year period whether or not to exercise the buy back option
in the amount of Fifty-five Thousand Dollars ($55,000.00); and that
the County is hereby authorized and directed to execute the

WHEREAS, the attached petition has been filed with the Board of County
Commissioners of the County of New Hanover requesting that the above described
road(s), the location of which has been indicated in red on the attached map, be
added to the Secondary Road System; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is of the opinion that the above
described road(s) should be added to the Secondary Road System, if the road(s)
meets minimum standards and criteria established by the Division of Highways of
the Department of Transportation for the addition of roads to the System.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners of the County
of New Hanover that the Division of Highways is hereby requested to review the
above described road(s), and to take over the road(s) for maintenance if they
meet established standards and criteria.
CERTIFICATE
The foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the Board of
Commissioners of the County of New Hanover at a meeting on the

OF THE
NEW HANOVER COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
WHEREAS, the health of our citizens and the accessibility and efficiency of our health care
system are objects of intense concern in our state and nation, and
WHEREAS, the two hospitals in New Hanover County, New Hanover Regional Medical Center
and Cape Fear Memorial Hospital, have functioned in a competitive environment for the last 26
years, and
WHEREAS, the impetus for health care reform in the state and nation increasingly indicates the
need for more collaboration between health care providers, and
WHEREAS, the governing bodies of the two hospitals in New Hanvoer County, New Hanover
Regional Medical Center and Cape Fear Memorial Hospital, have agreed to jointly fund a
community health assessment and benefit study; and
WHEREAS, a community health assessment and benefit study will review the population's
health status, identify major problems, develop health improvement priorities and initiatives for
health care providers and communities, forecast the demand for health services, and identify
opportunities to reduce duplication and improve efficiency; and
WHEREAS, potential participants in the study include New Hanover Regional Medical Center
and Cape Fear Memorial Hospital, other health care providers, community organizations and
community and business leaders,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Board of County Commissioners of New
Hanover County hereby adopts this resolution of support for the community health assessment
and benefit study jointly funded by New Hanover Regional Medical Center and Cape Fear
Memorial Hospital and encourages all health care providers, citizens and community
organizations to give it their fullest cooperation.
