1994-12-05 RM Exhibits d~B 9\&w J-fanover County 130ara of Commissioners Proc[amation WHEREAS, January 8, 1995 marks the fortieth anniversary of the first broadcast of WUNC- TV, the original station of the public television service of the University of North Carolina; and WHEREAS, that single station has grown into UNC-TV, North Carolina's statewide public television network, operated for the benefit of al/ North Carolinians by the University of North Carolina Center for Public Television; and WHEREAS, UNC- TV's network includes WUNJ- TV, Channel 39, licensed to Wilmington in New Hanover County, broadcasting al/ of UNC- TV's excel/ent cultural, informational and educational programs eighteen hours every day; and WHEREAS, UNC- TV has committed its excel/ent production capabilities and unique statewide reach to help North Carolinians experience together some of the most dramatic events of the past four decades, including the visits of Presidents of the United States, inaugurations of Governors, and critical votes in the General Assembly; and WHEREAS, UNC-TV has introduced North Carolinians and the nation to many of our state's extraordinary talents and vivid celebrations by showcasing writers, performers, artists, craftspeople, energetic community festivals, and much more representing the best of our cultural richness; and WHEREAS, UNC-TV has served the educational needs of generations of North Carolinians as pioneers of distance learning, helping our youngest children master their letters and numbers, bolstering the work of students and teachers in the classrooms, and using technology to help adults complete high school and college; and WHEREAS, UNC- TV is today North Carolina's most important source of information about North Carolina, North Carolina's largest classroom and North Carolina's most valuable resource for blending a large, diverse population into a statewide community with shared interests and concerns; and WHEREAS, UNC- TV has viewers, contributors and supporters in all 1 00 North Carolina counties, including New Hanover County; and WHEREAS, UNC- TV will celebrate its fortieth anniversary of splendid service to North Carolinians with special programs, events, and ceremonies throughout 1995, NOW, THEREFORE, the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners hereby proclaims January 1995 to be UNC- TV Month in New Hanover County and commend its observance to our citizens. New Hanover County (County) is engaged in the Contruction of the Kirkland Community Revitalization Program, which capital project involves the construction and/or acquisition of capital assets. 2. County desires to authorize and budget for said project in a proj ect ordinance adopted pursuant to North Carolina General statute $159-13.2, such ordinance to authorize all appropriations necessary for the completion of said project. NOW, THEREFORE, WITNESSETH THAT: 1. This proj ect ordinance is adopted pursuant to North Carolina General Statute $159-13.2. 2. The project undertaken pursuant to this ordinance is the Construction of the Kirkland Community Revitalization Program which project lS herewith authorized. 3. Within five days hereof, copies of this ordinance shall be filed with the finance and budget offices in New Hanover County, and with the Clerk to the Board of Commissioners of New Hanover County. ~~ day of ~~ Adopted this , 1994. j.1G Resolution of Intent To Close a Public Road Portion of an Unnamed Road in Silva Terra Subdivision WHEREAS, a petition has been filed pursuant to N.C G S 153A-241, requesting the Board of Commissioners of New Hanover County to close the following described portion of a public road, Beginning at a point in the southeastern line of the unnamed road right-of-way and the northwest corner of lot 189 of Silva Terra Subdivision, recorded in Map Book 13, Page 41 of the New Hanover County Registry extending southeast from said point 150 feet to a point in the southwestern corner of lot 189; thence 'southwest 60 feet to a point in the southeastern corner of lot 136 and northwestern line of the unnamed road right-of-way; thence extending northwest 150 feet to the northeast corner of lot 136; thence 60 feet northeast to the point of beginning on the northwest corner of lot 189, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board is considering closing said road to public use, and that a public hearing on this question will be held on the 3rd day of January, 1995 at 7:30 p.m. in the General Assembly Room of the County Courthouse, 24 North Third Street, Wilmington, NC at which time the Board will hear all interested citizens and make a final determination as to whether the road shall be closed The foregoing resolution was adopted by the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners on the 5th day of December, 1994 ;;V~ Robert G. Greer, Chairman Attest: , . . ~~ 6L9L r:-.; A RESOLUTION OF THE NEW HANOVER COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS The Board of Commissioners of New Hanover County, North Carolina, in regular session, does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, Masonboro Inlet is a Federal navigation project that was first authorized in 1949 with construction of a navigation channel, with both jetties being completed in 1980; and WHEREAS, continuance of this instrumental in the effective Wrightsville Beach; and navigation project has also been and economical nourishment of WHEREAS, the u.S.
