E. BLACKMON CONSTRUCTION COMPANY AND ROANOK NSTRUCTION COMPANY - PHASE I, AREA 4 OF THE SEWER SYSTEM County Engineer, Wyatt Blanchard, presented the followin mmary of liquidated damages for all days beyond the contrac ompletion date stating the time overrun has cost the Distric 142,071 in lost revenue, bond reissue, and engineering cost: W. E. Blackmon Construction Company: 197 days - 21 rain days = 176 days 176 days x $500/day = $88,000 Roanoke Construction Company 281 days - 21 rain days = 197 days 197 days x $100/day = $19,700 District commissioner corbett asked if these companies a till performing work with the County? The following persons commented: c Mr. Bruce Smith, Area Manager for Blackmon Construction mpany, commented on the problems encountered which caused avoidable delays stating the total liquidated damages should t be assessed. He stated the contract bid was for installation 500 sewer services; however, the company install 1,000. Also, ility lines were not shown on the plans nor were wells entified which caused work stoppage. He requested the District mmissioners to consider these factors before assessing the tal liquidated damages.
