DISCUSSION OF AN UPDATED STUDY AND DESIGN OF INTERCEP R
SYSTEM
Director of Engineering and Facilities, Ed Hilto ,
stated New Hanover County is first on the EPA funding li t
for Fiscal Year 1989 which will provide federal grant fun s
for construction of the interceptor system. He stat d
building the entire system would create availability f
federal funds and provide a base system to developers w
may assist in building of the collection system in order
connect their projects. However, the disadvantages
performing this work would require changing the curre
phasing plan of the sewer system and local funds would n
generate the local share needed since customers do n
attach to interceptors.
j
Director Hilton recommended an updated study of t e
system to include the impact of the interceptor, project
treatment plant expansions, and the feasibility of providi
service to those areas not originally in the five-pha
plan. He stated based on work now being performed in t
Northside Plant study, the Sewer District may want to chan
some areas that are designated for treatment at t II
Souths ide plant to the Northside plant. \
