HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020 1 15 MAB minutes Board Members Present: David Ball Susan Barbee Gwen Brown Dennis Dixon Stewart Moon Donna Pope Florence Warren   Elizabeth Ferrell, Kevin Maurer, Sandra Alice Ray, and Woody White  Absent: Staff Present: Kate Baillon, Barbi Baker, Joeli Banks, Jan Davidson, Simon Lashford, Heather Yenco, and Kitty Yerkes The Cape Fear Museum Advisory Board held its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 in Williston Auditorium at Cape Fear Museum. The meeting was called to order by Dennis Dixon at 4:00 pm. Consideration of Absences: Dennis Dixon Ferrell, Maurer, Warren, and White indicated their inability to attend this meeting and has been excused. Approval of Minutes: Dennis Dixon A motion to accept the November 13, 2019 minutes was made, seconded and approved without opposition. Chairman’s Report: Dennis Dixon Welcome new board member, Susan Barbee. Feasibility Study Update: state office staff plan to do an assessment of the needed physical upgrades to the building within the month. Project Grace Update: The Zimmer Co. had been asked to make a new proposal at a reduced cost. Associates Report: Kitty Yerkes for Dan Goodwin Fundraising and planning for STEM ILM 2.0 are underway: $19k in sponsorships raised so far. The raffle fundraiser was a success, bringing $10k in profits. Collections Committee Report: David Ball Ball reviewed the accessions and deaccessions to be submitted to NHC Board of Commissioners for approval. Because it was by committee, no motion was needed to accept the accessions. The acceptance was seconded and approved without opposition. Museum Report: Kate Baillon, Jan Davidson, and Simon Lashford Davidson and Lashford provided an overview of the history and layout of the upcoming We are the MusicMakers! exhibit. Baillon shared the upcoming exhibit schedule through 2021. Old Business/New Business: Dennis asked for more information about the upcoming Earth Optimism Summit. Baker shared an overview of this Smithsonian Sponsored Teen Summit with the board. A motion was made, and seconded, to adjourn the meeting. With unanimous consent, the meeting ended at 4:43 pm. The next board meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 18th at 4:00 pm in Williston Auditorium at Cape Fear Museum. Secretary, CFM Advisory Board Date
