NEW HANOVER COUNTY AIRPORT AUTHORITY
REGULAR MEETING
June 8, 2021
CALL TO ORDER
The New Hanover County Airport Authority met on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, in Conference Room 500 at the New
Hanover County Government Center, 230 Government Center Drive, Wilmington, North Carolina. Chairman Girardot
called the meeting to order at 4:02 p.m.
Airport Authority members attending were Donna Girardot, Chairman; Harry Stovall, Vice Chairman; Spruill
Thompson, Secretary; and Members Tom Wolfe; Julia Olson-Boseman; Nick Rhodes; Lee Williams; and Wanda
Copley, County Attorney.
Airport staff present: Julie Wilsey, Airport Director
Others present: Mark Francolini, New Hanover County Chief Human Resources Officer
CLOSED SESSION
Chairman Girardot called for a motion for the Airport Authority to enter closed session to consider personnel matters
pursuant to North Carolina General Statute (NCGS) 143-318.11(a)(6).
Motion: Member Wolfe MOVED, SECONDED by Member Thompson to enter a closed session to regarding personnel
matters pursuant to NCGS 143-318.11(a)(6). Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
All persons not involved in the discussion were asked to leave the room. Ms. Wilsey was asked to wait in the
Government Center atrium area until notified to return to the meeting. The Authority entered closed session at 4:04
p.m. with all Authority members present.
RETURN TO OPEN SESSION
The Airport Authority returned to open session at 4:55 p.m. Chairman Girardot announced that the Airport Authority
contract and asked for direction from the
Airport Authority.
MOTION: Secretary Thompson MOVED, SECONDED by Member Williams to opt-out of the employment contract
with Airport Director Julie Wilsey. Upon vote the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
Chairman Girardot announced the Airport Authority has unanimously voted to opt-out of the employment contract
with Airport Director Julie Wilsey effective June 9, 2021. Ms. Wilsey will continue as the Airport Director until July 9,
2021.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman Girardot adjourned the meeting at 4:57 p.m.
