RESOLUTION OF
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
WHEREAS, Venus Fly Traps are a unique and scientifically
valuable carnivorous species of plant;
WHEREAS, Venus Fly Traps are on the Protected Species List
in the State of North Carolina and are being considered to be on
the Endangered Species List;
WHEREAS, Southeastern North Carolina is the indigenous area
for Venus Fly Traps; and
WHEREAS, New Hanover County is a prime habitat,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the New Hanover County
Board of Commissioners to make every effort to protect this
species from being eradicated, to preserve them for future
generations, and to enhance public awareness.

WHEREAS, EPA has

WHEREAS, EPA
opportunity for the
action required by
acceptable level;
has formally notified the County of the
County to implement the remedial design and
EPA to clean up the Burn Pit site to an
WHEREAS, the County has the financial resources and the
technical capabilities to help conduct and finance the required
remedial design and action;
WHEREAS, the County is willing to reimburse EPA for its
actual costs incurred in the oversight of the remedial design and
action;
WHEREAS, the County is committed in general to protection of
its environmental resources; and
WHEREAS, the County has already participated in financing
and conducting the removal of contaminated soils at the Burn Pit;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the New Hanover County
Board of Commissioners to make a good faith offer to EPA to help
conduct and finance the required remedial design and action for
the clean-up of the Burn Pit.

REQUEST FOR ADDITION TO STATE MAINTAINED SECONDARY ROAD SYSTEM

Road(s) Description:
ROADS IN SAMSARA ESTATES
WHEREAS, the attached petition has been filed with the Board of County
Commissioners of the County of New Hanover requesting that the above described
road(s), the location of which has been indicated in red on the attached map, be
added to the secondary Road System; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is of the opinion that the above
described road(s) should be added to the Secondary Road System, if the road(s)
meets minimum standards and criteria established by the Division of Highways of
the Department of Transportation for the addition of roads to the system.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners of the County
of New Hanover that the Division of Highways is hereby requested to review the
above described road(s), and to take over the road(s) for maintenance if they
meet established standards and criteria.
CERTIFICATE
The foregoing resol ution was duly adopted by the Board of
Commissioners of the County of New Hanover at a meeting on the
16th day of Auqust , 1993.

collect the taxes set forth in the tax records filed in
the office of the Tax Administrator and in the tax
receipts herewith delivered to you, in the amounts and
from the taxpayers likewise therein set forth. Such taxes
are hereby declared to be a first lien upon all real
property of the respective taxpayers in the County of New
Hanover and this order shall be a full and sufficient
authority to direct, require, and enable you to levy on
and sell any real or personal property of such taxpayers,
