County Government Center, Lucie Harrell Conference Room 230 Government Center Drive, in
Wilmington, NC are now available for public review here.
This work session has been scheduled to allow the Commissioners to discuss and determine
direction and next steps for staff to pursue and clarify desired future land uses on the western
bank of the Cape Fear and Northeast Cape Fear Rivers.
These materials describe five potential development scenarios for the western bank of the Cape
Fear and Northeast Cape Fear Rivers across from downtown Wilmington and have been informed
by conversations held with a variety of stakeholders.
At the meeting, staff will provide an in-depth presentation on each scenario and its tradeoffs, an
overview of their consistency with existing policies, and proposed next steps in order to support
a Board discussion. There will not be a public comment period during the meeting to provide
sufficient time for Board discussion, but any additional stakeholder meetings, plans or studies, or
other assignments resulting from the Commissioners’ discussion and direction will allow for
additional public comment or forums.

development scenarios, please email Rebekah Roth, Director of Planning and Land Use, at
rroth@nhcgov.com by 8 am on Thursday, August 18, 2022 so your comments can be provided to
the Commissioners at the meeting.
