Adjournment NEW HANOVER COUNTY PARKS ADVISORY BOARD PAGE 1 REGULAR MEETING JUNE 1, 2022 ASSEMBLY The Parks Advisory Board held its regular meeting on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at the Airlie Cottage. Present: John Hinnant (presiding), . Absent: Nicholas Leger, Pete Wildeboer and Malik Shabazz. Guests: . Staff: Tara Duckworth, Tanya Gurganious, Andy Johnson, and Jodi Rich. WELCOME AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES The meeting was called to order by John Hinnant who asked for a motion to approve the minutes of the May th 4 meeting. The following motion was presented: th MOTION: Joe Irrera MOVED; SECONDED by John Hinnant, that the minutes of the May 4 meeting be approved. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 1.Voice of the Customer. Sergeant Dean Olinger presented an overview of the Park Resource Officer Unit. The team was established in 2021 and is made up of six personnel, two supervisors and four deputies. The purpose of the Park Resource Unit is to provide highly visible community-oriented patrol. It is intended to place deputies physically in local county parks and bike trails where they can deter criminal activity by increased visibility and enforcement in those areas. The enforce NC State Laws and NHC ordinances at the County parks. Bike, ATV, and foot patrol are utilized throughout the parks system. They communicate to park administration staff the lineup and park related watch commander reports. Janine Powell submitted, and the county won a NACO award this year for our PRO Program. 2.Top of Mind Topics. John Hinnant shared that he was at Trails End and noticed some parking tickets. Asked about how many vehicles/trailers can park there. Tara shared that it depends on how people park. (Possibly around 30.) 3.Director/Staff Q&A. Tara reported that the DOT permit for Hanover Pines was received. The trails paperwork for various easements is coming along. The pool is up and running with lots of programs (Yoga, water aerobics, etc.) Also partnering with the Senior Resource Center for programs. The lawn care maintenance for county schools has reverted to the schools. th 4.Next Meeting. The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 7. 5.Adjournment. The meeting adjourned at 8:57am.
