WMPO Response for Gardner Drive Road Closure

Subject: Gardner Drive Road Closure
The WMPO has evaluated the proposed Gardner Drive Road Closure, a 0.40 mile length of public ROW. The remainder of Gardner Drive will remain open. The proposed closure connects to Hall Drive and the remainder of Gardner Drive. The proposed ROW closure is bounded by adjacent parcels that are owned by NHC Airport Authority, (hereafter, Airport). If the road closure
proceeds, the Airport Authority would maintain the abandoned roadway. There are no identified funded road projects on Gardner Drive. Our site visit confirmed that
tenants, (including National Weather Service, Parker Land Group, AVELO Airlines, and Cold
Storage Wilmington) are to retain access per lease agreements with the property owner. The property owner is responsible to provide emergency access to the property and tenants. The WMPO does not object to the closure of the Gardner Drive.
