6.FIRE WATCH; DURING CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION WHERE HOT WORK, MATERIALS
SUBJECT TO SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION, OR OTHER HAZARDOUS CONSTRUCTION OR
DEMOLITION IS OCCURRING, THE OWNER OR THEIR DESIGNEE SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
MAINTAINING A FIRE WATCH. THE FIRE WATCH SHALL CONSIST OF AT LEAST ONE PERSON
WITH A MEANS OF COMMUNICATING AN ALARM TO 911, SHALL A WRITTEN ADDRESS POSTED
IN A CONSPICUOUS LOCATION AND SHALL MAINTAIN CONSTANT PATROLS. NC FPC 2012
SECTION 1404.
7.CONSTRUCTION/DEMOLITION; ALL CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION CONDUCTED, SHALL BE
IN COMPLIANCE OF THE CURRENT EDITION OF CHAPTER 14 OF THE NC FPC.
8.PRIOR TO ISSUANCE OF A CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY APPLICANT SHALL REPLACE ANY
TREES SHOWN AS PRESERVED-PROTECTED ON THE LANDSCAPE PROTECTION PLAN THAT
HAVE DIED OR ARE IN POOR HEALTH AS A RESULT OF LAND DISTURBING ACTIVITIES.

THE PLAN AND ALL SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS, PERMITS, AND REPORTS FOR THIS SITE,
INCLUDING NOT BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
·EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION CONTROL PLAN
·STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN.
3.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDIATELY INFORM THE ENGINEER OF ANY
DISCREPANCIES OR ERROR THEY DISCOVER IN THE PLANS.
4.DEVIATION FROM THESE PLANS AND NOTES WITHOUT THE PRIOR CONSENT OF THE
OWNER OR HIS REPRESENTATIVE OR THE ENGINEER MAY BE CAUSE OF THE WORK TO
BE UNACCEPTABLE.
5.UTILITY COORDINATION SHALL BE INCLUDED IN THE PROJECT SCHEDULE AND IT IS THE
EXPLICIT RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO ASSURE THAT THE PROJECT
SCHEDULE INCLUDES THE NECESSARY RELOCATIONS. THE CONTRACTOR WILL NOT BE
PAID ADDITIONALLY FOR THIS COORDINATION. THE CONTRACTOR SHOULD SEEK
ASSISTANCE FROM ALL UTILITY COMPANIES TO LOCATE AND PROTECT THEIR
FACILITIES. IF CONFLICTS ARE FOUND, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY
THE OWNER AND DESIGN ENGINEER FOR INSTRUCTION BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH
WORK.
6.ALL MATERIALS SHALL BE NEW UNLESS USED OR SALVAGED MATERIALS ARE
AUTHORIZED BY THE OWNER AND APPLICANT.
7.TRAFFIC CONTROL METHODS, SUCH AS BARRICADES, SUFFICIENT LIGHTS, SIGNS, ETC.,
MAY BE NECESSARY FOR THE PROTECTION AND SAFETY OF THE PUBLIC SHALL BE
PROVIDED AND MAINTAINED THROUGHOUT THE CONSTRUCTION IN ACCORDANCE WITH
CURRENT AND NCDOT STANDARDS.
8.CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH AND MAINTAIN ALL NECESSARY BARRICADES, FENCING
AND OTHER APPROPRIATE SAFETY ITEMS/MEASURES NECESSARY TO PROTECT THE
PUBLIC FROM THE WORK AREA CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES.
9.HIGH INTENSITY LIGHTING FACILITIES SHALL BE SO ARRANGED THAT THE SOURCE OF
ANY LIGHT IS CONCEALED FROM PUBLIC VIEW AND FROM ADJACENT RESIDENTIAL
PROPERTY AND DOES NOT INTERFERE WITH TRAFFIC.
10.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN ACCESS FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES AROUND AND
TO ALL BUILDINGS NEAR CONSTRUCTION. IN TIME OF RAIN OR MUD, ROADS SHALL BE
ABLE TO CARRY A FIRE TRUCK BY BEING PAVED OR HAVING A CRUSHED STONE BASE,
ETC., WITH A MINIMUM WIDTH OF 20 FEET. ACCESS TO BUILDINGS THAT HAVE
SPRINKLER OR STANDPIPE SYSTEMS SHALL BE WITHIN 40 FEET OF THE FIRE
DEPARTMENT CONNECTOR. (NFPA 1141 3-1)
11.BEDDING REQUIREMENTS SPECIFIED HEREIN ARE TO BE CONSIDERED AS MINIMUMS
FOR RELATIVELY DRY, STABLE EARTH CONDITIONS. ADDITIONALLY BEDDING SHALL BE
REQUIRED FOR ROCK TRENCHES AND WET AREAS. CONTRACTOR SHALL HAVE THE
RESPONSIBILITY TO PROVIDE SUCH ADDITIONAL BEDDING AS MAY BE REQUIRED TO
PROPERLY CONSTRUCT THE WORK.
12.BACKFILL OF ALL TRENCHES SHALL BE COMPACTED TO THE DENSITY OF 95% OF
THEORETICAL MAXIMUM DRY DENSITY (ASTM D698). BACKFILL MATERIAL SHALL BE
FREE FROM ROOTS, STUMPS, OR OTHER FOREIGN DEBRIS AND SHALL BE PLACED IN
LAYERS NOT TO EXCEED SIX (6) INCHES IN COMPACTED FILL THICKNESS. A REPORT
FROM A GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER MAY BE REQUIRED BY THE PUBLIC WORKS
INSPECTOR. CORRECTION OF ANY TRENCH SETTLEMENT WITHIN A YEAR FROM THE
DATE OF APPROVAL WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR.
13.THE CONTRACTOR WILL ENSURE THAT POSITIVE AND ADEQUATE DRAINAGE IS
MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES WITHIN THE PROJECT LIMITS. THIS MAY INCLUDE, BUT NOT
BE LIMITED TO, A) REPLACEMENT OR RECONSTRUCTION OF EXISTING DRAINAGE
STRUCTURES THAT HAVE BEEN DAMAGED OR REMOVED, OR B) REGRADING AS
REQUIRED BY THE ENGINEER, EXCEPT FOR THOSE DRAINAGE ITEMS SHOWN AT
SPECIFIC LOCATIONS AND HAVING SPECIFIC PAY ITEMS IN THE DETAILED ESTIMATE. NO
SEPARATE PAYMENT WILL BE MADE FOR ANY COSTS INCURRED TO COMPLY WITH THIS
REQUIREMENT.
14.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ANY AND ALL EXCAVATION AND MATERIAL SAMPLES
NECESSARY TO CONDUCT REQUIRED SOIL TESTS. ALL ARRANGEMENTS AND
SCHEDULING FOR THE TESTING SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY.
15.SOIL TESTING AND ON-SITE INSPECTION SHALL BE PERFORMED BY AN INDEPENDENT
GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER. A GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER IS REQUIRED TO INSPECT,
TEST AND CERTIFY TO THE COMPACTION OF ALL LOAD BEARING FILLS. THE
GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER SHALL PROVIDE COPIES OF TEST REPORTS TO THE
CONTRACTOR, THE OWNER AND TO THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE AND SHALL
PROMPTLY NOTIFY THE OWNER, HIS REPRESENTATIVE AND THE CONTRACTOR, SHOULD
WORK PERFORMED BY THE CONTRACTOR FAIL TO MEET THESE SPECIFICATIONS.
16.ALL PERMITS MUST BE OBTAINED PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION.
17.ALL PAVEMENT MARKINGS AND REGULATORY SIGNS ON PRIVATE PROPERTY SHALL
CONFORM TO CURRENT MUTCD STANDARDS.
GENERAL CONSTRUCTION AND GRADING NOTES:
1.ALL UTILITIES AND SERVICES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO GAS, WATER, ELECTRIC,
SANITARY AND STORM SEWER, TELEPHONE, CABLE, FIBER OPTIC, ETC. WITHIN THE
LIMITS OF DISTURBANCE SHALL BE VERTICALLY AND HORIZONTALLY LOCATED. THE

2.UTILITY COORDINATION SHALL BE INCLUDED IN THE PROJECT SCHEDULE AND IT IS THE

SCHEDULE INCLUDES THE NECESSARY RELOCATIONS. THE CONTRACTOR WILL NOT BE
PAID ADDITIONALLY FOR THIS COORDINATION.
3.IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO DETERMINE THE LOCATIONS AND
DEPTHS OF ALL EXISTING UNDERGROUND UTILITIES AND STRUCTURES BEFORE THE
START OF WORK AND TO TAKE WHATEVER STEPS NECESSARY TO PROVIDE FOR THEIR

FOR THE CONTRACTOR'S CONVENIENCE ONLY. THE ENGINEER ASSUMES NO
RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE LOCATIONS OF UTILITIES SHOWN OR NOT SHOWN.
COMPLETENESS OR ACCURACY OF LOCATION AND DEPTH OF UNDERGROUND UTILITIES

4.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT ALL UTILITY COMPANIES FOR EXACT LOCATION AND

6.CONTRACTOR MUST OBTAIN ANY REQUIRED UTILITY DETAILS FOR RECONNECTION OF

7.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE LOCATION AND INSTALLATION OF ALL

CURBING, PAVING, AND COMPACTED SUB-GRADE.
8.IF CONFLICTS ARE FOUND, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE OWNER
AND ENGINEER FOR INSTRUCTION BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH WORK.
9.ALL PIPE LENGTHS AND DISTANCES BETWEEN STRUCTURES ARE MEASURED FROM
CENTER OF STRUCTURE TO CENTER OF STRUCTURE ALONG A HORIZONTAL PLANE.
10.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ANY AND ALL EXCAVATION AND MATERIAL SAMPLES
NECESSARY TO CONDUCT REQUIRED SOIL TESTS. ALL ARRANGEMENTS AND
SCHEDULING FOR THE TESTING SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY.
11.SOILS TESTING AND ON-SITE INSPECTION SHALL BE PERFORMED BY AN INDEPENDENT
GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER. THE SOILS ENGINEER SHALL PROVIDE COPIES OF TEST
REPORTS TO THE CONTRACTOR, THE OWNER AND THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE
AND SHALL PROMPTLY NOTIFY THE OWNER, HIS REPRESENTATIVE AND THE
CONTRACTOR SHOULD WORK PERFORMED BY THE CONTRACTOR FAIL TO MEET THESE
SPECIFICATIONS.
12.CONTRACTOR SHALL EXCAVATE ONLY ENOUGH TRENCH FOR WHICH PIPE CAN BE
INSTALLED AND TRENCH BACKFILLED BY THE END OF EACH WORK DAY.
13.BEDDING REQUIREMENTS SPECIFIED HEREIN ARE TO BE CONSIDERED AS MINIMUMS
FOR RELATIVELY DRY, STABLE EARTH CONDITIONS. ADDITIONAL BEDDING SHALL BE
REQUIRED FOR ROCK TRENCHES AND WET AREAS. CONTRACTOR SHALL HAVE THE
RESPONSIBILITY TO PROVIDE SUCH ADDITIONAL BEDDING AS MAY BE REQUIRED TO
PROPERLY CONSTRUCT THE WORK.
14.COMPACTION OF THE BACKFILL OF ALL TRENCHES SHALL BE COMPACTED TO THE
DENSITY OF 95% OF THEORETICAL MAXIMUM DRY DENSITY (ASTM D698). BACKFILL
MATERIAL SHALL BE FREE FROM ROOTS, STUMPS, OR OTHER FOREIGN DEBRIS AND
SHALL BE PLACED IN LIFTS NOT TO EXCEED 6 INCHES IN COMPACTED FILL THICKNESS.
A REPORT FROM A GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER MAY BE REQUIRED BY THE PUBLIC
WORKS INSPECTOR. CORRECTION OF ANY TRENCH SETTLEMENT WITHIN A YEAR FROM
THE DATE OF APPROVAL WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR.
15.RUNOFF FROM IMPERVIOUS AREAS SHALL NOT BE DIRECTED INTO THE SANITARY
SEWER NOR ONTO ADJACENT PROPERTIES.
16.ALL JOINTS ON THE STORM WATER CONVEYANCE SYSTEM SHALL BE WATERTIGHT.
17.ALL CONSTRUCTION ASSOCIATED WITH WATER AND SANITARY SEWER SHALL BE IN
ACCORDANCE WITH C.F.P.U.A. STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS.
18.ALL ELECTRICAL SERVICE LINES TO OR AROUND THE PROPOSED STRUCTURE SHALL BE
UNDERGROUND.
GENERAL UTILITY NOTES:
1.HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL SEPARATION
1.1.SANITARY SEWERS SHALL BE LAID AT LEAST 10-FEET HORIZONTALLY FROM ANY EXISTING OR PROPOSED
WATER MAIN. THE DISTANCE SHALL BE MEASURED EDGE TO EDGE. IN CASES WHERE IT IS NOT PRACTICAL TO
MAINTAIN A 10-FOOT SEPARATION, THE PUBLIC WORKS SUPPLY MAY ALLOW DEVIATION A CASE-BY-CASE BASIS,
IF SUPPORTED BY DATA FROM THE DESIGN ENGINEER. SUCH DEVIATION ON MAY ALLOW THE INSTALLATION OF
THE SANITARY SEWER CLOSER TO A WATER MAIN, PROVIDED THAT THE WATER MAIN IS IN A SEPARATE TRENCH
OR ON AN UNDISTURBED EARTH SHELF LOCATED ON ONE SIDE OF THE SANITARY SEWER AND AT AN ELEVATION
SO THE BOTTOM OF THE WATER MAIN IS AT LEAST 18-INCHES ABOVE THE TOP OF THE SEWER.
1.2.IF IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO OBTAIN PROPER HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL SEPARATION AS DESCRIBED ABOVE OR
ANYTIME THE SANITARY SEWER IS OVER THE WATER MAIN, BOTH THE WATER MAIN AND SANITARY SEWER
MUST BE CONSTRUCTED OF FERROUS PIPE COMPLYING WITH THE PUBLIC WATER SUPPLY DESIGN STANDARDS
AND BE PRESSURE TESTED TO 150PSI TO ASSURE WATER TIGHTNESS BEFORE BACKFILLING.
1.3.A 24-INCH VERTICAL AND 10-FOOT HORIZONTAL SEPARATION SHALL BE PROVIDED BETWEEN STORM SEWER
AND SANITARY SEWER LINES OR FERROUS PIPE SPECIFIED. A 18-INCH VERTICAL SEPARATION SHALL BE
PROVIDED BETWEEN STORM SEWER AND WATER MAIN.
1.3.1.IF A 18-INCH VERTICAL SEPARATION IS NOT MAINTAINED AT A CROSSING BETWEEN STORM SEWER AND
WATER MAINS (OR PRESSURE SEWERS). THE WATER MAIN SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED OF FERROUS PIPE
AND A CONCRETE COLLAR SHALL BE POURED AROUND WATER MAINS AND STORM SEWER TO IMMOBILIZE
THE CROSSING.
2.CROSSINGS
1.1.SANITARY SEWER CROSSING WATER MAINS SHALL BE LAID TO PROVIDE A MINIMUM VERTICAL DISTANCE OF 24
INCHES BETWEEN THE OUTSIDE OF THE WATER MAIN AND THE OUTSIDE OF THE SANITARY SEWER. THE
CROSSING SHALL BE ARRANGED SO THAT THE SANITARY SEWER JOINTS WILL BE EQUIDISTANT AND AS FAR AS
POSSIBLE FROM THE WATER MAIN JOINTS.
1.2.WHEN IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO OBTAIN PROPER HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL SEPARATION AS STIPULATED ABOVE,
ONE OF THE FOLLOWING METHODS MUST BE SPECIFIED:
1.1.1.THE SANITARY SEWER SHALL BE DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED OF FERROUS PIPE AND SHALL BE
PRESSURE TESTED AT 150-PSI TO ASSURE WATER TIGHTNESS PRIOR TO BACKFILLING, OR
1.1.2.EITHER THE WATER MAIN OR THE SANITARY SEWER LINE MAY BE ENCASED IN A WATERTIGHT CARRIER
PIPE, WHICH EXTENDS 10-FEET ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CROSSING, MEASURED PERPENDICULAR TO THE
WATER MAIN. THE CARRIER PIPE SHALL BE OF MATERIALS APPROVED BY THE PUBLIC WATER SUPPLY FOR
USE IN WATER MAIN CONSTRUCTION.
CONTRACTORS MUST EXERCISE APPROPRIATE CARE AND PRECISION IN CONSTRUCTION OF
ADA (HANDICAP) ACCESSIBLE COMPONENTS AND ACCESS ROUTES FOR THE SITE. THESE
COMPONENTS, AS CONSTRUCTED, MUST COMPLY WITH THE CURRENT ADA STANDARDS
AND REGULATIONS' BARRIER FREE ACCESS AND ANY MODIFICATIONS, REVISIONS OR
UPDATES TO SAME. FINISHED SURFACES ALONG THE ACCESSIBLE ROUTE OF TRAVEL

EROSION CONTROL NOTES:
NO ACTIVITIES THAT EXPOSE SOILS SHALL COMMENCE PRIOR TO PRE-CONSTRUCTION MEETING WITH NEW HANOVER
COUNTY.
1.ALL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE NEW HANOVER COUNTY EROSION AND
SEDIMENT CONTROL ORDINANCE.
2.ADDITIONAL MEASURES TO CONTROL EROSION AND SEDIMENT MAY BE REQUIRED BY A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE
COUNTY ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT.
3.SLOPES SHALL BE GRADED NO STEEPER THAN 2:1. 2:1 FILL SLOPES GREATER THAN 10 FEET OF DEPTH REQUIRE
ADDITIONAL TERRACING.
4.ALL PERIMETER DIKES, SWALES, DITCHES, PERIMETER SLOPES AND ALL SLOPES STEEPER THAN 3H:1V SHALL BE
PROVIDED TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT STABILIZATION WITH GROUND COVER AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE BUT IN ANY
EVENT WITHIN 7 CALENDAR DAYS FROM THE LAST LAND DISTURBING ACTIVITY (TYP).
5.PERMANENT CUT AND FILL SLOPES PLACED ON A SUITABLE FOUNDATION SHOULD BE CONSTRUCTED AT 2:1
(HORIZONTAL TO VERTICAL) OR FLATTER. PERMANENT SLOPES OF 3:1 SHOULD BE CONSTRUCTED WHERE MOWING IS
DESIRABLE AND AS INDICATED. IF FILL MATERIAL IS BROUGHT ONTO THE PROPERTY OR IF WASTE MATERIAL IS
HAULED FROM THE PROPERTY, THEN THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DISCLOSE THE LOCATION OF ANY OFF-SITE BORROW
LOCATION AND/OR WASTE BURIAL LOCATION TO THE EROSION CONTROL INSPECTOR.
6.APPROVAL OF THIS PLAN IS NOT AN AUTHORIZATION TO GRADE ADJACENT PROPERTIES. WHEN FIELD CONDITIONS
WARRANT OFF-SITE GRADING, PERMISSION MUST BE OBTAINED FROM THE AFFECTED PROPERTY OWNER.
7.ALL EROSION CONTROL DEVICES SHALL REMAIN UNTIL SITE HAS BEEN PERMANENTLY STABILIZED.
8.ALL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PRACTICES SHALL BE CHECKED FOR STABILITY AND OPERATION FOLLOWING
EVERY STORM EVENT, BUT IN NO CASE LESS THAN ONCE EVERY WEEK. ANY REPAIRS OR CLEANING NECESSARY TO
MAINTAIN EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PRACTICES SHALL BE COMPLETED IMMEDIATELY.
9.ALL SEEDED AREAS SHALL BE REFERTILIZED, RESEEDED AS NECESSARY, AND MULCHED ACCORDING TO THE
SEEDING SCHEDULE.
10.OBTAIN GRADING/EROSION CONTROL PLAN APPROVAL FROM THE NEW HANOVER COUNTY ENGINEERING
DEPARTMENT FOR THE EROSION CONTROL PLAN.
11.SET UP AN ON-SITE PRE-CONSTRUCTION MEETING WITH EROSION CONTROL INSPECTOR OF THE COUNTY
ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT TO DISCUSS EROSION CONTROL MEASURES.
12.PRIOR TO ANY CLEARING OR INSTALLATION OF EROSION CONTROL DEVICES, CONTRACTOR SHALL STAKE CLEARING
LIMITS AND STAKE ALL TREES, AND STRUCTURES TO REMAIN AND BE PROTECTED. ALL BUFFERS SHALL BE CLEARLY
DELINEATED IN THE FIELD TO BE PROTECTED.
13.INSTALL TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE AND SILT FENCE. TIRE WASH MAY BE REQUIRED IF CONSTRUCTION
ENTRANCE IS NOT SUFFICIENT TO RETAIN SOIL. CONTRACTOR TO BLOCK ALL POSSIBLE ENTRANCES TO SITE BESIDES
APPROVED CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE W/ FENCING AND ORANGE BARRELS.
14.CONTRACTOR SHALL USE PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE TO BUILD SKIMMER BASIN. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
CLEAR ONLY AS NECESSARY TO INSTALL THIS BASIN.
15.INSTALL SILT FENCE, INLET PROTECTION, SKIMMER BASIN, DIVERSION DITCHES, TREE PROTECTION, AND ANY OTHER
MEASURES AS SHOWN ON PLANS, CLEARING ONLY AS NECESSARY TO INSTALL THESE DEVICES.
16.CALL FOR ON-SITE INSPECTION BY INSPECTOR. WHEN APPROVED, INSPECTOR ISSUES THE GRADING PERMIT AND
CLEARING AND GRUBBING MAY BEGIN. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DILIGENTLY AND CONTINUOUSLY MAINTAIN ALL
EROSION CONTROL DEVICES AND STRUCTURES.
17.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DILIGENTLY AND CONTINUOUSLY MAINTAIN ALL EROSION CONTROL DEVICES AND
STRUCTURES.
18.GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL ENSURE THAT EROSION CONTROL MEASURES ARE IN PLACE AND FUNCTIONING PRIOR
TO GRUBBING AND GRADING OPERATIONS.
19.BEGIN GRADING, INSTALLING ADDITIONAL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES AS INDICATED, AS REQUIRED, AND AS
DEEMED NECESSARY BY THE EROSION CONTROL INSPECTOR.
20.FOR PHASED EROSION CONTROL PLANS, CONTRACTOR SHALL MEET WITH EROSION CONTROL INSPECTOR PRIOR TO
COMMENCING WITH EACH PHASE OF EROSION CONTROL MEASURES.
21.STABILIZATION IS THE BEST FORM OF EROSION CONTROL. TEMPORARY SEEDING IS NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE EROSION
CONTROL ON LARGE DENUDED AREAS AND ESPECIALLY WHEN SPECIFICALLY REQUIRED AS PART OF THE
CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE. ALL SLOPES MUST BE SEEDED AND MULCHED WITHIN DAYS. REFER TO EROSION
CONTROL ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS.
22.COORDINATE WITH EROSION CONTROL INSPECTOR PRIOR TO REMOVAL OF EROSION CONTROL MEASURES.
23.NO DEVICE SHALL BE REMOVED UNTIL SITE IS STABILIZED.
24.ALL EROSION CONTROL DEVICES SHOULD BE INSPECTED ONCE A WEEK AND AFTER EVERY RAINFALL EVENT OF 1" OR
GREATER. IF ANY FAILURES ARE FOUND THEY SHOULD BE REPAIRED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
25.ALL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE N.C. EROSION AND

SEQUENCE OF CONSTRUCTION
PHASE 1
1.OBTAIN ALL NECESSARY PLAN APPROVALS AND PERMITS PRIOR TO COMMENCING WORK.
2.PRIOR TO ANY CLEARING OR INSTALLATION OF EROSION CONTROL DEVICES, CONTRACTOR SHALL STAKE CLEARING
LIMITS AND STAKE ALL TREES, STRUCTURES AND ANY OTHER ITEMS TO REMAIN AND BE PROTECTED.
3.INSTALL TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCES, SILT FENCE, SILT FENCE OUTLETS, AND TREE PROTECTION FENCE.
4.INSTALL SKIMMER BASIN, NECESSARY STORM DRAINAGE (FROM OUTLET STRUCTURES TO HEAD WALLS), TEMPORARY
SILT DITCHES, AND ANY OTHER MEASURES AS SHOWN ON SHEET CS8001, CLEARING ONLY AS NECESSARY TO INSTALL
THESE DEVICES AND STABILIZING EACH BASIN IMMEDIATELY AFTER INSTALLATION.
5.CONTRACTOR SHALL ENSURE THAT EROSION CONTROL MEASURES ARE IN PLACE AND FUNCTIONING PRIOR TO
DEMOLITION, GRUBBING AND GRADING OPERATIONS.
6.CALL FOR ON-SITE INSPECTION BY INSPECTOR. WHEN APPROVED, INSPECTOR ISSUES THE GRADING PERMIT AND
CLEARING, GRUBBING, DEMOLITION AND GRADING OF THE REMAINDER OF THE SITE MAY BEGIN.

EROSION CONTROL NOTES:
NO ACTIVITIES THAT EXPOSE SOILS SHALL COMMENCE PRIOR TO PRE-CONSTRUCTION MEETING WITH NEW HANOVER COUNTY.
1.ALL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE NEW HANOVER COUNTY EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL ORDINANCE.
2.ADDITIONAL MEASURES TO CONTROL EROSION AND SEDIMENT MAY BE REQUIRED BY A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE COUNTY ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT.
3.SLOPES SHALL BE GRADED NO STEEPER THAN 2:1. 2:1 FILL SLOPES GREATER THAN 10 FEET OF DEPTH REQUIRE ADDITIONAL TERRACING.
4.ALL PERIMETER DIKES, SWALES, DITCHES, PERIMETER SLOPES AND ALL SLOPES STEEPER THAN 3H:1V SHALL BE PROVIDED TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT
STABILIZATION WITH GROUND COVER AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE BUT IN ANY EVENT WITHIN 7 CALENDAR DAYS FROM THE LAST LAND DISTURBING ACTIVITY (TYP).
5.PERMANENT CUT AND FILL SLOPES PLACED ON A SUITABLE FOUNDATION SHOULD BE CONSTRUCTED AT 2:1 (HORIZONTAL TO VERTICAL) OR FLATTER. PERMANENT
SLOPES OF 3:1 SHOULD BE CONSTRUCTED WHERE MOWING IS DESIRABLE AND AS INDICATED. IF FILL MATERIAL IS BROUGHT ONTO THE PROPERTY OR IF WASTE
MATERIAL IS HAULED FROM THE PROPERTY, THEN THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DISCLOSE THE LOCATION OF ANY OFF-SITE BORROW LOCATION AND/OR WASTE BURIAL
LOCATION TO THE EROSION CONTROL INSPECTOR.
6.APPROVAL OF THIS PLAN IS NOT AN AUTHORIZATION TO GRADE ADJACENT PROPERTIES. WHEN FIELD CONDITIONS WARRANT OFF-SITE GRADING, PERMISSION
MUST BE OBTAINED FROM THE AFFECTED PROPERTY OWNER.
7.ALL EROSION CONTROL DEVICES SHALL REMAIN UNTIL SITE HAS BEEN PERMANENTLY STABILIZED.
8.ALL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PRACTICES SHALL BE CHECKED FOR STABILITY AND OPERATION FOLLOWING EVERY STORM EVENT, BUT IN NO CASE LESS
THAN ONCE EVERY WEEK. ANY REPAIRS OR CLEANING NECESSARY TO MAINTAIN EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PRACTICES SHALL BE COMPLETED
IMMEDIATELY.
9.ALL SEEDED AREAS SHALL BE REFERTILIZED, RESEEDED AS NECESSARY, AND MULCHED ACCORDING TO THE SEEDING SCHEDULE.
10.OBTAIN GRADING/EROSION CONTROL PLAN APPROVAL FROM THE NEW HANOVER COUNTY ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT FOR THE EROSION CONTROL PLAN.
11.SET UP AN ON-SITE PRE-CONSTRUCTION MEETING WITH EROSION CONTROL INSPECTOR OF THE COUNTY ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT TO DISCUSS EROSION
CONTROL MEASURES.
12.PRIOR TO ANY CLEARING OR INSTALLATION OF EROSION CONTROL DEVICES, CONTRACTOR SHALL STAKE CLEARING LIMITS AND STAKE ALL TREES, AND
STRUCTURES TO REMAIN AND BE PROTECTED. ALL BUFFERS SHALL BE CLEARLY DELINEATED IN THE FIELD TO BE PROTECTED.
13.INSTALL TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE AND SILT FENCE. TIRE WASH MAY BE REQUIRED IF CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE IS NOT SUFFICIENT TO RETAIN
SOIL. CONTRACTOR TO BLOCK ALL POSSIBLE ENTRANCES TO SITE BESIDES APPROVED CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE W/ FENCING AND ORANGE BARRELS.
14.CONTRACTOR SHALL USE PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE TO BUILD SKIMMER BASIN. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CLEAR ONLY AS NECESSARY TO INSTALL
THIS BASIN.
15.INSTALL SILT FENCE, INLET PROTECTION, SKIMMER BASIN, DIVERSION DITCHES, TREE PROTECTION, AND ANY OTHER MEASURES AS SHOWN ON PLANS, CLEARING
ONLY AS NECESSARY TO INSTALL THESE DEVICES.
16.CALL FOR ON-SITE INSPECTION BY INSPECTOR. WHEN APPROVED, INSPECTOR ISSUES THE GRADING PERMIT AND CLEARING AND GRUBBING MAY BEGIN. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL DILIGENTLY AND CONTINUOUSLY MAINTAIN ALL EROSION CONTROL DEVICES AND STRUCTURES.
17.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DILIGENTLY AND CONTINUOUSLY MAINTAIN ALL EROSION CONTROL DEVICES AND STRUCTURES.
18.GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL ENSURE THAT EROSION CONTROL MEASURES ARE IN PLACE AND FUNCTIONING PRIOR TO GRUBBING AND GRADING OPERATIONS.
19.BEGIN GRADING, INSTALLING ADDITIONAL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES AS INDICATED, AS REQUIRED, AND AS DEEMED NECESSARY BY THE EROSION CONTROL
INSPECTOR.
20.FOR PHASED EROSION CONTROL PLANS, CONTRACTOR SHALL MEET WITH EROSION CONTROL INSPECTOR PRIOR TO COMMENCING WITH EACH PHASE OF EROSION
CONTROL MEASURES.
21.STABILIZATION IS THE BEST FORM OF EROSION CONTROL. TEMPORARY SEEDING IS NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE EROSION CONTROL ON LARGE DENUDED AREAS AND
ESPECIALLY WHEN SPECIFICALLY REQUIRED AS PART OF THE CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE. ALL SLOPES MUST BE SEEDED AND MULCHED WITHIN DAYS. REFER TO
EROSION CONTROL ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS.
22.COORDINATE WITH EROSION CONTROL INSPECTOR PRIOR TO REMOVAL OF EROSION CONTROL MEASURES.
23.NO DEVICE SHALL BE REMOVED UNTIL SITE IS STABILIZED.
24.ALL EROSION CONTROL DEVICES SHOULD BE INSPECTED ONCE A WEEK AND AFTER EVERY RAINFALL EVENT OF 1" OR GREATER. IF ANY FAILURES ARE FOUND THEY
SHOULD BE REPAIRED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
25.25.ALL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE N.C. EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PLANNING AND DESIGN
MANUAL, U.S. DEPT. OF AGRICULTURE, NEW HANOVER COUNTY EROSION CONTROL ORDINANCE, AND THE NEW HANOVER LAND DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS.
SEQUENCE OF CONSTRUCTION
PHASE 2
1.SPREAD TOP SOIL ON AREAS THAT HAVE ACHIEVED FINAL SUBGRADE. PERMANENTLY STABILIZE AREAS ONCE FINISH GRADE IS ACHIEVED. IMMEDIATELY
FOLLOWING THE COMPLETION OF THE MOST RECENT LAND DISTURBING/GRADING ACTIVITY, TEMPORARILY STABILIZE THROUGHOUT CONSTRUCTION ANY
DISTURBED AREAS, INCLUDING MATERIAL STOCKPILES THAT ARE SCHEDULED OR LIKELY TO REMAIN INACTIVE FOR 7 DAYS OR MORE, AND AS DEEMED NECESSARY
BY THE EROSION CONTROL INSPECTOR.
2.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DILIGENTLY AND CONTINUOUSLY MAINTAIN ALL EROSION CONTROL DEVICES AND STRUCTURES.
3.ALL TOPSOIL SHALL BE PLACED IN FILL SLOPES AREA WHEN POSSIBLE.
4.SKIMMER BASIN SHALL REMAIN THE SIZE AND SHAPE AS SHOWN ON SHEET CS8001 UNTIL PROPOSED STORM DRAINAGE, SHOWN ON THIS SHEET, HAS BEEN
INSTALLED AND THE AREAS IDENTIFIED HAVE BEEN STABILIZED AND THE DENUDED AREAS HAVE BEEN REDUCED TO LESS THAN 1 AC.
5.AS CONSTRUCTION COMMENCES, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ADJUST DIVERSION DITCHES, AS NECESSARY, AS SITE IS BROUGHT TO FINISHED GRADE. CONTRACTOR
SHALL ALSO INSTALL ADDITIONAL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES (INLET PROTECTION, ETC.) AS SHOWN ON SHEETS CS8002 AND AS DEEMED NECESSARY BY THE
EROSION CONTROL INSPECTOR.
6.STABILIZATION IS THE BEST FORM OF EROSION CONTROL. TEMPORARY SEEDING IS NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE EROSION CONTROL ON LARGE DENUDED AREAS AND
ESPECIALLY WHEN SPECIFICALLY REQUIRED AS PART OF THE CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE. ALL SLOPES MUST BE SEEDED AND MULCHED WITHIN 5 CALENDAR DAYS.
REFER TO THE NEW HANOVER COUNTY SEDIMENT AND EROSION CONTROL ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS.
7.ONCE AREAS IDENTIFIED ON SHEET CS8002 ARE COMPLETE, THESE AREAS HAVE BEEN ADEQUATELY STABILIZED, AND THE DENUDED AREAS DECREASED BELOW 1
AC, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REQUEST APPROVAL FROM THE COUNTY INSPECTOR TO REMOVE THE SKIMMER BASIN, REMOVE ASSOCIATED TEMPORARY
DIVERSION DIKES DIVERTING RUNOFF TO SKIMMER 1 AND CONVERT THE SKIMMER BASIN TO THE BMP'S TO COMPLETE THE FINAL LAND DEVELOPMENT WORK.
8.COORDINATE WITH EROSION CONTROL INSPECTOR PRIOR TO REMOVAL OF EROSION CONTROL MEASURES.
9.NO DEVICE SHALL BE REMOVED UNTIL SITE IS STABILIZED.
10.ALL EROSION CONTROL DEVICES SHOULD BE CHECKED PERIODICALLY AND AFTER EVERY MAJOR STORM EVENT. BUT IN NO CASE LESS THAN ONCE EVERY WEEK
AND AFTER EVERY RAIN EVENT GREATER THAN 1.0" OF DEPTH. IF ANY FAILURES ARE FOUND, THEY SHOULD BE REPAIRED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
11.ALL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE N.C. EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PLANNING AND DESIGN MANUAL,

NOTES:
1.VERIFY WITH ENGINEER AND AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION WHICH DISCHARGES FROM DEWATERING

OTHER AREAS BEYOND THE PERMITTED PROJECT AREA. LIKEWISE, DISCHARGES INTO STORM SEWER
SYSTEMS THAT DO NOT DRAIN TO A SUITABLE ON-SITE TREATMENT FACILITY, SUCH AS A BASIN, ARE ALSO
PROHIBITED. DISCHARGES FROM DEWATERING OPERATIONS MUST ALSO BE CONDUCTED IN A MANNER
SUFFICIENT TO PREVENT EROSION FROM THE DISCHARGE RUNOFF.
4.IN SEDIMENT TRAP OR BASIN OR POND DEWATERING OPERATIONS, WATER MUST ONLY BE REMOVED FROM
THE SURFACE OF THE CONTAINED WATER. A SKIMMER OR SIMILAR FLOATING DEVICE MUST BE USED, TO
ONLY REMOVE THE WATER AT THE SURFACE.
5.DO NOT DISCHARGE ON A SLOPE GREATER THAN THREE PERCENT NOR WITHIN 20 FEET OF A SURFACE
WATER BODY.
6.DEWATERING SHALL NOT OCCUR DURING OR IMMEDIATELY AFTER PRECIPITATION EVENTS, BUT
EXCEPTIONS SHALL BE EVALUATED ON CASE BY CASE BASIS. CONTACT THE ENGINEER AND AUTHORITY
HAVING JURISDICTION
NOTES:
1.ALL ON-SITE TOPSOIL MUST BE PRESERVED FOR REUSE ON THE SITE DURING REVEGETATION, UNLESS IT IS

5.STOCKPILE LOCATIONS SHALL BE NOTED ON THE SITE MAPS.
NOTES:
1.LARGE AREAS OF SOIL THAT ARE DENUDED OF VEGETATION AND HAVE NO PROTECTION FROM PARTICLES
BEING PICKED UP AND CARRIED BY WIND SHOULD BE PROTECTED WITH A TEMPORARY COVER OR KEPT
UNDER CONTROL WITH WATER OR OTHER SOIL ADHERING PRODUCTS TO PREVENT SOIL PARTICLES FROM
BECOMING AIRBORNE, AND FROM EXITING THE SITE PERIMETER.
WATER TRUCKS OR OTHER DUST CONTROL AGENTS SHALL BE USED AS NEEDED DURING CONSTRUCTION TO

DUST. MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDATIONS FOR APPLICATION LOCATIONS AND RATES MUST BE USED FOR

2.DUST CONTROL MUST BE PROVIDED BY THE GC TO A DEGREE THAT IS IN COMPLIANCE WITH APPLICABLE
FEDERAL, LOCAL AND STATE DUST CONTROL REGULATIONS.
3.THE USE OF MOTOR OILS AND OTHER PETROLEUM BASED OR TOXIC LIQUIDS FOR DUST SUPPRESSION
OPERATIONS IS PROHIBITED.
4.IN ADDITION TO BMPS, GC SHALL PERFORM PER PRACTICES AND PROCEDURES WHICH MINIMIZE AND
PREVENT AIRBORNE DUST OR OTHER PARTICLES FROM OCCURRING.
NOTES:
1.USING WATER FROM BASINS, TRAPS, TANKS, OR OTHER WATER CONTAINMENT AREAS FOR IRRIGATION
MINIMIZES DISCHARGES FROM THE SITE, AND IT MAY SATISFY OTHER NEEDS OF THE CONSTRUCTION
PROJECT, SUCH AS DUST CONTROL, VEGETATIVE ESTABLISHMENT, ETC.
2.CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN THAT WATER UTILIZED FROM CONTAINMENT AREAS ON-SITE FOR CONSTRUCTION
PURPOSES DOES NOT DISCHARGE OFF-SITE. IF DISCHARGE IS ANTICIPATED OR OBSERVED, DEWATERING
PROCEDURES STATED IN THE DEWATERING DETAIL MUST BE FOLLOWED.
3.GC SHALL IMPLEMENT IRRIGATION OR DISPERSION AS PRACTICABLE TO REDUCE WATER VOLUME IN
IMPOUNDMENTS AND TO FOSTER VEGETATION GROWTH.
NOTES:
1.STORM DRAIN INLET PROTECTION MEASURES SHALL PREVENT SOIL AND DEBRIS FROM ENTERING STORM
DRAIN INLETS.
2.TEMPORARY CONTROLS SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED BEFORE THE SURROUNDING AREA IS DISTURBED.
3.TO PREVENT CLOGGING, STORM DRAIN CONTROL STRUCTURES MUST BE MAINTAINED FREQUENTLY.

2.CHEMICALS, PAINTS, SOLVENTS, FERTILIZERS, AND OTHER TOXIC MATERIALS MUST BE STORED IN
WATERPROOF CONTAINERS. EXCEPT DURING APPLICATION, THE CONTAINERS AND THE CONTENTS MUST BE
KEPT IN TRUCKS OR INSIDE OF STORAGE FACILITIES. RUNOFF CONTAINING SUCH MATERIAL MUST BE
COLLECTED, REMOVED FROM THE SITE, TREATED, AND DISPOSED OF AT AN APPROVED SOLID WASTE AND
CHEMICAL DISPOSAL FACILITY.
NOTES:
1.ALL PERSONNEL INVOLVED WITH CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES MUST COMPLY WITH STATE AND LOCAL
SANITARY OR SEPTIC SYSTEM REGULATIONS. PORTABLE TOILETS MUST BE LOCATED AT LEAST 30 FEET
FROM INLETS, CHANNELS, SWALES, OR PERMITTED LIMITS OF DISTURBANCE, AND MUST BE LOCATED AT
LEAST 50 FEET FROM WATERS OF THE STATE, OR WATERS OF THE U.S.. PORTABLE TOILETS MUST BE
SECURELY ANCHORED AND/OR TIED DOWN. SECONDARY CONTAINMENT SHALL BE PROVIDED AND FULL
CAPACITY SHALL BE RESTORED IMMEDIATELY UPON DISCOVERY OF ITS DIMINISHMENT. THE LOCATION OF
SANITARY FACILITIES SHALL BE SHOWN ON THE SITE MAPS.
NOTES:
1.SUBSTANCES THAT HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR POLLUTING SURFACE AND/OR GROUNDWATER MUST BE
CONTROLLED BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY TO ENSURE THAT THOSE DO NOT DISCHARGE FROM THE SITE. IN
THIS REGARD, POTENTIALLY POLLUTING SUBSTANCES SHALL BE STORED AND HANDLED IN A MANNER
CONSISTENT WITH THE RISK OF IMPACT THOSE REPRESENT, AND ACCORDING WITH THE REGULATIONS.
2.NO SOLID MATERIALS, INCLUDING BUILDING MATERIALS, ARE ALLOWED TO BE DISCHARGED FROM THE SITE
WITH STORMWATER. ALL SOLID WASTE, INCLUDING DISPOSABLE MATERIALS INCIDENTAL TO THE
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES, MUST BE COLLECTED AND PLACED IN CONTAINERS. RUBBISH, TRASH,
GARBAGE, LITTER, OR OTHER SUCH MATERIALS SHALL BE DEPOSITED INTO SEALED CONTAINERS.
MATERIALS SHALL BE PREVENTED FROM LEAVING THE PREMISES THROUGH THE ACTION OF WIND OR
STORMWATER DISCHARGE INTO DRAINAGE DITCHES OR WATERS OF THE STATE. THE CONTAINERS SHALL
BE HAULED AWAY FROM THE SITE AND EMPTIED WHEN THOSE BECOME 95% FULL, OR AS NECESSARY, BY A
CERTIFIED TRASH DISPOSAL SERVICE. LIDS OR COVERS FOR THE CONTAINERS SHALL BE PROVIDED FOR
USE DURING RAIN EVENTS TO PREVENT WASTE CONTACT WITH STORMWATER. WASTES THAT CANNOT BE
STORED IN A CONTAINER MUST BE STORED UNDER COVER OR INDOORS. THE LOCATION OF SOLID WASTE
RECEPTACLES SHALL BE SHOWN ON THE SITE MAPS.
NOTES:
1.CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE DESIGNATED LOCATION FOR SORTING AND SEPARATING HAZARDOUS
WASTES.

AS FAR AS PRACTICABLE FROM STORMWATER CONVEYANCES AND IMPOUNDMENTS AND WATER BODIES.
PORTABLE CONCRETE WASHOUT CONTAINERS SHALL CONTAIN AND/OR ACTIVELY MANAGE BOTH, SOLID
AND FLUID, COMPONENTS OF THE MIX. CONCRETE WASHOUT CONTAINERS MUST BE CLEANED OR
EXCHANGED WHEN THE REMAINING VOLUME IS REDUCED BY 85% TO PREVENT ANY POTENTIAL OVERFLOW
IN A STORM EVENT.
3.ALTERNATIVELY, WASTE CONCRETE CAN BE PLACED INTO FORMS TO MAKE RIP RAP AND/OR OTHER
USEFUL CONCRETE PRODUCTS. PORTABLE CONCRETE WASHOUT CONTAINERS SHALL BE DISPOSED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL REGULATIONS. THE GC IS RESPONSIBLE
FOR ASSURING THAT THESE PROCEDURES, APPLICABLE LAWS, AND ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS ARE
FOLLOWED. THE LOCATION OF CONCRETE WASHOUT CONTAINERS SHALL BE SHOWN ON THE SITE MAPS.

THE MASONS' AREA. COVERED RECEPTACLES FOR DEBRIS AND TRASH DISPOSAL SHALL ALSO BE
PROVIDED.
3.THE MASONS' AREA SHALL MEET OSHA AND OTHER REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS FOR PERSONAL
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE), FIRE EXTINGUISHERS, ETC. GC SHALL PROVIDE SCREENING OR OTHER
TECHNOLOGIES FOR MASONS' AREA TO PREVENT AIRBORNE TRANSPORT OF CEMENT DUST AND OTHER
PARTICULATES DUE TO HIGH SPEED WIND OR OTHER CONDITIONS. THE LOCATION OF THE MASONS' AREA
SHALL BE SHOWN ON THE SITE MAPS.
MASONS' AREA
NOTES:
1.CONSIDERATION MUST BE GIVEN TO ANTICIPATED CLIMATE AND SEASONAL CONDITIONS WHEN PLANTING
SEED.
2.SEED SHALL BE FREE OF WEEDY SPECIES AND APPROPRIATE FOR SITE SOILS AND REGIONAL CLIMATE.
SEED AND MULCH PER THE CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS IMMEDIATELY AFTER TOPSOIL IS APPLIED AND FINAL

MINIMUM OF 80 PERCENT DENSITY OVER THE ENTIRE VEGETATED AREA, OR GREATER IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE GENERAL PERMIT REQUIREMENTS.
4.VEGETATED AREAS MUST BE WATERED, FERTILIZED, AND RESEEDED AS NEEDED TO ACHIEVE THIS
REQUIREMENT.
5.THE VEGETATIVE DENSITY MUST BE MAINTAINED THROUGH PROJECT COMPLETION TO BE CONSIDERED
STABILIZED. AREAS PROTECTED BY EROSION CONTROL BLANKETS ARE NOT PERMANENTLY STABILIZED
UNTIL THE APPLICABLE GENERAL PERMIT REQUIREMENT FOR FINAL VEGETATIVE DENSITY IS ACHIEVED.
6.RIP-RAP, MULCH, GRAVEL, DECOMPOSED GRANITE OR OTHER EQUIVALENT PERMANENT STABILIZATION
MEASURES MAY BE EMPLOYED IN LIEU OF VEGETATION BASED ON SITE-SPECIFIC CONDITIONS, DESIGN AND

7.ALL VEGETATED AREAS SHALL BE INSPECTED REGULARLY TO CONFIRM THAT A HEALTHY STAND OF GRASS
IS MAINTAINED.

1.THE GC IS REQUIRED TO, AT A MINIMUM, INITIATE SOIL STABILIZATION MEASURES IMMEDIATELY WHENEVER

CEASED ON ANY PORTION OF THE SITE, OR TEMPORARILY CEASED ON ANY PORTION OF THE SITE .
2.ALL PERIMETER DIKES, SWALES, DITCHES, PERIMETER SLOPES AND ALL SLOPES STEEPER THAN 3
HORIZONTAL TO 1 VERTICAL (3:1) SHALL BE PROVIDED TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT STABILIZATION WITH

5.ALL DISTURBED AREAS MUST BE STABILIZED TEMPORARILY WITH THE USE OF FAST-GERMINATING ANNUAL
GRASS/GRAIN VARIETIES APPROPRIATE FOR SITE SOIL AND CLIMATE CONDITIONS. MULCH IS REQUIRED FOR
ALL SEEDING APPLICATIONS, AND ALL MULCH APPLICATIONS MUST INCLUDE A SUITABLE FORM OF MULCH
ANCHORING TO MINIMIZE MOVEMENT OF MULCH BY WIND OR WATER.
6.ALTERNATIVE STABILIZATION MEASURES TO SEEDING, SUCH AS ANCHORED MULCH APPLICATION (WITHOUT
SEEDING), MAY BE UTILIZED DURING PERIODS WHEN VEGETATIVE GROWTH IS UNLIKELY (E.G. WINTER
MONTHS).
7.IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO ALLOW BARE SOIL TO REMAIN EXPOSED AT ANY TIME DURING THE YEAR,
REGARDLESS OF WEATHER/TEMPERATURE/SITE CONDITIONS.
8.ALTERNATIVE STABILIZATION MEASURES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: ANCHORED STRAW/HAY
MULCH, WOOD CELLULOSE FIBER MULCH, SPRAY-ON SOIL GLUES/BINDERS, AND ROLLED EROSION CONTROL

9.ALL ROLLED EROSION CONTROL PRODUCTS SHALL HAVE CURRENT QDOR(TM) STATUS ISSUED BY THE
EROSION CONTROL TECHNOLOGY COUNCIL (ECTC) PLUS ANY STATE OR AGENCY-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS.
EVIDENCE OF QDOR(TM) APPROVAL SHALL ACCOMPANY THE PRODUCT SHIPPED TO THE JOBSITE FOR
READY IDENTIFICATION BY THE CONTRACTOR OR AGENCY INSPECTOR.
10.ROLLED EROSION CONTROL PRODUCTS (NETS, BLANKETS, TURF REINFORCED MATS) AND VEGETATED
AREAS NOT MEETING REQUIRED VEGETATIVE DENSITIES FOR FINAL STABILIZATION MUST BE INSPECTED
DAILY. RILING, RUTTING AND OTHER SIGNS OF EROSION INDICATE THE SPECIFIED EROSION CONTROL
DEVICE IS NOT FUNCTIONING OR INSTALLED PROPERLY AND/OR ADDITIONAL EROSION CONTROL DEVICES
ARE WARRANTED.
NOTES:
1.PERMANENT STABILIZATION SHALL BE ACCOMPLISHED IN ALL DISTURBED AREAS BY COVERING THE SOIL

7.SEEDED AREAS SHALL BE PROTECTED WITH STRAW MULCH, HYDRAULIC MULCH OR A ROLLED EROSION
CONTROL PRODUCT. STRAW MULCH MUST BE TACKIFIED OR CRIMPED BY DISC OR OTHER MACHINERY, AND
