Library Advisory Board
February 16, 2023
Assembly:
The Library Advisory Board met in Regular Session on Thursday, at 1:30 pm at the Main Library,
201 Chestnut Street.

Chair Linda Miles convened the meeting at 1:30 pm.
Public Comment
No public comments.
Agenda Review
No changes.
Approval of Previous Minutes
The minutes from the last board meeting on January 19, 2023, were sent to the board prior to the
meeting for review.
Motion: Lynn Kozik MOVED, SECONDED by Dennis Conlon, to accept the minutes of the 01/19/23
meeting as written. Upon vote, the MOTION WAS CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.

Friends of the Library
Tom Brimberry reported:
• The FOL and the Rotary Club presented book bags of supplies and books to Williston Middle
School Students. This is a monthly recognition.
• Membership raised $2,000 during the 1st day of the book sale.
• 425 FOL members.
• Walking tours will resume in the Spring.
Library Foundation
Linda Miles reported:
• Working on an author luncheon fundraiser
• Voted to give $25,000 for the NE shelter and another $25,000 later this year.
Director’s Report
Dana Conners reported:
Projects
• Northchase
o We have recently loaded a public survey on our website and already have 300 entries.
o Board Engagement Session – 2/23 at 6pm virtual.
o Community Engagement Sessions – 3/16 @ 6pm at Northeast Library; 3/23 @ 6pm
virtual
• Project Grace – no new news
• Pleasure Island Library – Possible expansion into vacant unit next door. 1,600 sq ft
• Holds Lockers – working on wrap art now.
• Local History Consultant – still working with staff.
Staff
• New Staff – Katrina Fairbank to start next week. Part Time at Main in Children’s
• Vacancies – 1 position for a Part Time employee at Main on the Circulation desk.
Other
• Booksale raised $77,022. Next sale is the first two weekends in August.
• WAVE Transit – Employee digital access only cards
• Main Library – County Commissioners passed the ordinance.
• Concerns and Challenges Training
o Staff training on library materials and reconsideration issues.
o Would like the Boards to also view the documentation and then look at our
reconsideration policy.

Chair Linda Miles reported that no committee requests were made.
New Business
Laptop Policy Review
Main Branch Mgr., Jimi Rider, submitted the library’s new Public Laptop (In-Library) Lending policy.
Motion: MOVED by Shaun Assael, SECONDED by Dennis Conlon, to accept the Public Laptop policy as
written. Upon vote, the MOTION WAS CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
