NOTICE OF PLANNING PRELIMINARY FORUM
NEW HANOVER COUNTY PLANNING BOARD
August 3 , 20 23
Item 4: Special Use Permit Request (S23-04) – Request by Douglas Grant, property owner, for the use of
Campground and RV Park at three parcels located at 8102, 8104, and 8106 Sidbury Road, zoned R-15,
Residential, and totaling approximately 19.21 acres.
This petition will be considered by the New Hanover County Planning Board at a public hearing on Thursday,
August 3, 2023 beginning at 6:00 p.m. or thereafter at the New Hanover County Historic Courthouse, located at
24 North Third Street, Room 301 (corner of Third and Princess Street) in Wilmington, NC.
Since this notice is sent only to property owners within 500 feet of the parcel boundary of the proposed project,
please discuss it with other residents who may be interested. Anyone wishing to be heard on this matter should
appear at the public hearing or arrange to be represented.
Typically, a total of twenty (20) minutes will be allocated for all of those wishing to speak on the request, including
both supporters and opponents of the application. Following this twenty-minute period, the applicant will have
an opportunity to address comments and questions from the public. The Planning Board will then discuss the
application and pose comments and questions to the applicant. Staff will provide an overview of the next steps in
the special use permit application process, and the Planning Board will close the preliminary forum.
For the upcoming Planning Board meeting, individuals can submit public comments in advance to
https://www.nhcgov.com/1105/Public-Comment-Form by Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 8:00 a.m. Written comments
will be provided to the board and board chair will acknowledge receipt during the public hearing or submit
comments into the record during the public hearing and/or public comment period.
